There has been a small blow to my plans. When I finally finish building the map on the OWF server, I was going to export it offline and use MC edit to finalise things, add more details and move things around where I want them - And also make major changes that aren't possible in creative mode without investing lots of time, such as making the entire visible area surrounding RF into a mass of buildings and chimneys - Like the industrial village seen currently outside its front.
However,
apparently the lead developer of MC Edit doesn't want to continue working on it anymore (post #5474 if the link doesn't work). He said he'd make the project open-source and will pass development onto people he trusts - Although the future of it seems to be in question.
I'll continue building Minecraft RF anyway - I mean it'll take me a few more months to finish this damned thing. If development ceases on MC edit, then given the popularity of Minecraft and the upcoming changes to make it more mod-friendly, I'm sure something will take its place. But it still makes me a little worried. Guess you shouldn't rely on unofficial tools that quickly become outdated...
EDIT: And oh yeah and an update: the barrel maze is complete, if undecorated. I've built a spawn point/tutorial level which seems to work well - Thanks to those who helped me test both. Along with Phylum, Glitch has also offered to help me with redstone circuitry in some of the planned set pieces as well, which I'm grateful for.
