SMP went south with the update. Furnaces are not working properly, items are disappearing, immense amount of lag that I haven't experienced previously and higher memory usage than usual. The MCForums are full of posts complaining about these.

There was an issue with the CPU which might have explained the lag we had. Notch is looking into the furnace problem now.

Edit: 1.6.3 is out, fixing the majority of the issues that 1.6.2 brought with it.

After the 1.6 update my game has become less laggy. Now I can put my render up to far and it looks awesome

I don't suppose you could throw up the complete map? I want to see how far we've managed to explore in total.

Also, I like how my shack is right in the middle of a forest, when trees cause me so much lag.

Backup your saves.

Or cheat to get your stuff back to keep the game interesting for you. Sure it's dishonest, but you're only cheating yourself in the end.

(unless you're playing multiplayer - In that case you're screwed.)

Oh and always carry a bucket of water in dungeons. Place it near (but not on) lava and let it flow. Eliminates the problem of lava being in your way.

I already deleted the world, I was just exploring shit on easy difficulty.

Also, I'm pretty sure it was a bug because I held shit all the time and then suddenly, I fell for no reason.

So many people talk about losing there items to lava, I've seriously never lost all my stuff by falling into lava. If I find lots of ore, I just get the hell outta the caves and back up to the surface.

I think the only time I've ever fallen in lava is by missing holes in the floor, or being surprised by a mob, usually a skellington firing a bafflingly accurate arrow.
