Then I do not know why they delay release Oddbox. In steam in section "Coming soon" there is no information.
Lorne in the interview promised Oddbox in the winter. The winter already comes to an end in 10 days. Where Oddbox!? Really port of game with Xbox on PC so long?

I will remind the previous posters that OWF is an English speaking forum. IF you want to communicated in Cyrillic text, keep it to PMs.

Yes, Lorne said that the game would be out before Christmas, or early 2010. Sometimes projects don't go as planned. Sometimes they're more complicated than first envisioned. Something has pushed back the release dates and we don't know what it is. Deal with it.

Gah, I'm sick of the whining. It's still Q1 of 2010, there's still a bit to go before the end of it. Leave it till after March 31st to start complaining about nothing going to plan.

Да не, скорее они как всегда скрытничают, чтобы ни одна фигня о новом проекте не просочилась в сеть. Правильно делают, кстати. А то, например, прочитаешь про Кратоса (GOW3) превьюшки, посмотришь видео, демку, и уже не так сладко будет...

I think that some screenshots from developers just will warm interest for this games, especially if first two are remakes.

What would be the point of screenshots? They would probably look just like screenshots from the original games.

Since both xbox games where written using C++ and DirectX it should be fairly simple for them to port it to a pc (since the xbox really is just a pc). I doubt they are going to re-render all textures and replace all meshes with higher resolution ones because that would cost them far too much money in terms of time and effort. Or maybe they don't even have the source yet and are making some high level emulator to run the games original binary on a pc? Only time will tell..

Edit: by "have the source yet" I mean they don't have / can't get it

The Xbox API is based on DirectX, but it's not identical. Also, when designing a game for a console, the developers know exactly what the hardware is going to be and can exploit it to the nth degree. The people doing the port have to rewrite the code to work on any PC, with any hardware configuration and with any set of drivers.

The final word to anyone who says that porting a game from Xbox to PC is simple: They've been working on it for months. It's not available. What does that tell you?

I got Stranger's Wrath on Xbox in 2005, and it wasn't easy. It's become so rare now, as most Oddworld games around here.

Would like to get this Oddbox though. I have all the games, but would gladly buy them again for the PC.

I think Oddworld to begin with was overly optimistic, but they managed to get it off the ground and keep it alive for over 10 years. Lorne has become one of the most respectable figures in the gaming industry thanks to his big ideas. I'd rather see him go at it with the same kind of ambition, even if he fails multiple times, than to see him settle down with something safe and mediocre like so many other successful people have done.
Oddworld isn't just a fun franchise that's meant to entertain in the same sense as warcraft or halo or whatever. It's much more important than that.

So it's not being released for the time being? DAMN! I was checking Steam everyday, as it was supposed to be released this season, but I guess I'll have to wait a bit longer. So is the new release date this March or will it be held back further than that?
