Been playing a shit ton of Street Fighter IV lately. Gonna trade in Skyrim later this week for Street Fighter X Tekken, gonna be awesome. Haven't decided which console for, but probably 360.

Cammy and Akuma are unstoppable.

Shannon hates it when I use the puppet wielding characters as she can't even get near me with them.
I am confused. How did puppets become a weapon in a fighting game?

Context wise: One of the clans in Naruto uses man-sized puppets that they haul around on their backs and use magic or whatever to manipulate them.

Actual gameplay application:

Did you ever play Smash Bros. Brawl? Basically the Pokemon trainer but actually a target himself. Different puppets seem to do different stuff.

EDIT: Never mind I have no fucking idea what's going on in that video.

If you are playing with someone who isn't great at getting in close then the puppet wielders are unbeatable. Basically, you just run really far away, throw your puppets at them, and make them fight the puppets instead of you. The puppets can't be damaged, but inflict just as much damage as any regular attack. They are cheap.

However, she did finally figure out how to counter this by using Minato's cheap ass. Motherfucker just teleports at you when you press the jump button. It's not even a special move. It's the jump button.

I got a package in the mail today that I had been waiting for for a good while now. It included:

- Far Cry 1 & 2 (PC)
- Splinter Cell Quadrilogy (PC)
- Fallout 1 (PC)
- Unreal Tournament '04 (PC)
- CSI: Deadly Intent (PC)
- Final Fantasy XIV (PC)
- Duke Nukem Forever (Xbox 360)

Not bad for only 12€. And yeah, I don't even plan on opening the CSI game. Maybe I'll try out FF XIV sometime. I got them because they were cheap as dirt (I can see why though).

Anyways, started playing DOUK NOUKKEM 4EVA just a while ago and dear god is it boring. I mean, it is better than what most reviews said but the start was so damn dull and boring. I do like the enemies and the 'classy' humour in it though. It's retarded fun. I also tried the multiplayer and it was ok, just can't find a match that easily (WONDER WHY).

I love Duke Nukem: 4EVAR!

I know the start is boring.

SPOILER ALERT: I like the Portal puzzles and references towards other games, especially Halo (moar like Gaylo miright?) plus "A crowbar would come in handy right about now."

I liked other things and still want to finish the game, it's not good because of some of those glitches but it's bearable to say the most and I still love it.

I've been meaning to get into fighters for ages now. I picked up Blazblue: Calamity Trigger whenever that was released and I really liked the fighting. I've played a casual bit of MK in the past and I simply adored the variety in the characters. I want to pick up the sequel, but I've been waiting for the price to drop. Now I'm not sure if I should buy that or SF:IV. Opinions?

I've been playing Quake Live Duels lately. I'm too scared to venture into TDM and CTF given how shit I am. It's one thing to be shit on your own, but I'd hate to let a team down. I'm now at the point where I can actually win matches in t3. I can put up a fight against some t4 guys, but most of them breeze over me. I'm actually starting to get the feel of timing items and forcing my opponents to concede them to me.

MK is certainly the most friendly to new users as far as fighters goes. SFxT also seems to be surprisingly good in this regard. MvC3 is easy to pick up, but you're likely to get trashed online. SF4 is the worst in all regards to newcomers to the genre, IMO.

That's true, I got SFIV last year and I fucking kept losing on the second easiest difficulty all the time. I did not know how to block or do special moves because I hadn't played Street Fighters before that and I'd got used to Mortal Kombat's controls.

Just beat Legend of Zelda on NES, The last temple was really easy surprisingly
I also picked up JAK II and Metal Gear Solid 3 today very cheap. I'm going to start playing them soon.

Only get SFIV if you have some people to play with and are willing to spent a lot of hours learning the characters/playstyles. If you're patient enough and spent a lot of time playing, it'll definitely pay off when you're able to kick all your friend's asses.

You don't even need to play online; I've never played SFIV but have spent many, many hours on it, either in training, arcade, trial or versus with friends.

Marvel vs Capcom isn't the best entrance into fighting games because it's not exactly orthodox. Don't get me wrong, the game is fantastic, but if you want a game to get into the fighting genre in general, you can't get much better than Street Fighter IV.

It's a lot better than the first one. The story mode and the combat system are improved immensely. The only real drawbacks is certain characters like Rachel go from being top tier to bottom tier.

Though that's pretty much par for course with fighting game sequels.

Never played it, but I know a few people who really liked it. From what I've seen it seems like a good starter.

Also I really like the art style.

I picked up Journey. I love it. It's so simple, but really immersive. The way the character moves and interacts with the world is intuitive and simply good. When you pick up a buddy to play with the game becomes twice as fun. Using only the whistle button to communicate is very interesting.

I don't want to talk too much about it because I feel half of the fun has been having no idea what's going on, but I will recommend that you buy it. Now.

Also, how much does it cost you guys in the US?

Pretty sure it's $15

I'm playing the Twisted Metal reboot, it's a lot of fun and the cutscenes are a freaking laugh riot.

Also playing Halo Wars which is fun and reminds me of playing with Micro Machines as a kid. The problem is I'm so spectacularly cheap in it, all I ever wanna deploy are marines.

I'm playing inFAMOUS 2. It's a shitload better than Prototype, that other 3rd person action game centered on parkour and mysterious superpowers. It's also a lot more fun, interesting and the main character is a big goof who is easy to like.

Also hunkered (that word makes me feel filthy) down and bought FFVII on PSN, so I could finally fucking finish it. Not very far in but it is what it is and I'm sure I'll enjoy it on my day's off. 9.99 on PSN.

Still playing God Hand, getting slightly better at it. I spent about an hour playing through the level before Elvis, the first boss, died 4 times fighting him, finally beat him and decided that after dying on the next area I should save so when the 'CONTINUE yes/no' screen popped up I clicked on no, since yes brings you back to the level you're playing. And I was brought back to the title screen and need to play it over. God. Damn. It.

Aaaand I finally made it to Tuchanka on Mass Effect 2. Since I don't have a save for ME1, the game automatically assumes a lot of things including that I killed Wrex on Virmire. I would never, ever have killed Wrex and I'm pissed I have to deal with his stinky little brother.

My brother owns Mass Effect 2, but I am hesitant to play it because I never played the original. Is it worth playing anyways?

Also watched a friend play about a half hour of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. It's really quite shit. Plays like a bad Resident Evil 4 mod. I love Resident Evil and Capcom in general, but this was just... not my thing. Too Gears of War-y.

My brother owns Mass Effect 2, but I am hesitant to play it because I never played the original. Is it worth playing anyways?
No.

Also watched a friend play about a half hour of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. It's really quite shit. Plays like a bad Resident Evil 4 mod. I love Resident Evil and Capcom in general, but this was just... not my thing. Too Gears of War-y.
I share this feeling although I haven't played the game yet, just watched the trailers

Oh, absolutely. The little bit of ME I did play indicated that it was probably superior, but ME2 is still very engaging and fun. Mass Effect used an 'overheat' system for weapons, ME2 uses a kind of incomprehensible heat-sink-ammo-thingie instead. I can tell you for a fact that you could snag ME1 for 9.99 for 360 anyway. You're in Ottawa, right? Just waltz into an EBgames and they WILL have it used and it WILL NOT be expensive. I would recommend ME2 on the PS3. Buy that version new and you'll get a shitload of extra content. I think Mass Effect 2 was about 15$ used anyway, so whip 30$ together and you can have both, extra content be damned.

That's a shame, I was kinda looking forward to it. Figures they'd fuck up playing as HUNK's pals.
