It's a business, and the hype machine is an important part of that business. Getting your customer to engage in any meaningful way with your product before its release has a huge impact on sales. Liking their page on Facebook puts them in front of more prospective buyers, and builds anticipation. It isn't unethical, and it's not dishonest. It's marketing, and fairly smart marketing, while being pretty innocuous at the same time.

Because of this, I'm not sure if I should go looking for information where there probably isn't any, or wait for someone else to do it, or just wait until OWI reveal whatever it is they're going to reveal.

Their tweets mention they want us to pay close attention to the things they say. I think this is a Half-Life 3 ARG.

e: Some cursory analysis:
  • The Stockyard escape cutscene has seemingly changed to include Abe being harassed by some Scrabs
  • Abe’s meeting with Bigface now has a more dramatic setting and flair to it

I'd be impressed, but I can't see the reflection of the scenery in Abe's big glassy eyes. Hopefully, this will be fixed before release. I'm kind of disappointed that such a glaring issue was allowed to go on long enough to make it into this trailer. What exactly is going on over at Jaw?

The frame rate is too low.

Oh, and I also actually still think the eyes could stand to be shinier.

So mudokon teeth are canon now, huh. Also, liking Abe's froglike asynchronous blink.

Wait, isn't this the first time we've seen a 3D Scrab skeleton? Seriously, good work.

In all seriousness, that's the first thing you guys put out that made me want to play the game. The cutscenes seem to be a lot more in depth than I expected, and I did really like the tone that they set. Looks good.

I'm not enough of a loser to memorize every detail from the original game so that I can compare it. I can fix this, though. I'm going to tell my girlfriend we can't have sex anymore. That way I'll be able to fit in with the average OWI user better, and will be able to approach criticizing the game on a level playing field with the rest of you.

It's different, but a good kind of different, one that captures all the charm of the original while still doing its own thing.

This also beats the shit out of the previous trailer, and the Stranger HD trailers. This might actually draw in new audiences!

I actually don't mind that much, but it would make a nice touch.

I love the animations, I hope the game runs in 60fps (youtube caps to 30 frames per sec), it looks really smooth. The music is awesome and true to the original, the sounds too. The graphics are a bit better than I expected from Unity Engine, so it's great. I enjoy the scenes with scrabs and cages, it just feels right. The trailer isn't MO-like cartoony, which is also a good thing.

Furthermore, when I look at the screenshots, the gamma (mostly in Scrabania) seems lowered and look much better than on the previous ones. I almost feel like someone actually reads our OWF rants D:

It doesn't seem like a case with the trailer, but they might have rendered it before they lower the gamma, so no big deal.

There are two things I don't like about the update, though. One of them is the stone lift from here, and the other is the OWI logo from the beginning of the trailer. Both look very cheap and with made with no extra thought. See the originals here and here.

And after watching the trailer, I'm pretty much sold! I loved the scene with BigFace reviving Abe, so dramatic. :P

Heh, the nitpicking.

This is certainly looking a lot better than I expected it to be - To the point where I'm lost for words. It's looking to be a beautiful re-imagining of AO. Damned nice indeed, and those visuals look incredible.
