Except that the church was abusive to me because I was an atheist, and it isn't my reason for being an atheist, and all of my stated reasons for being an atheist have nothing to do with that.

My reason for desiring other people to become atheists is because of the abusive, and hateful nature of religion. I figure that since it isn't real, and it's a hotbed for ignorance and bigotry, the world would be a better place without it.

Also, good work using the same exact argument that I just got done berating STM for because every moron alive thinks that atheists are atheists because people were mean to them. No, really. Good work.

over the course of this debate I have been wrong on many occasions, in which bullet magnet has made pinfully obviouse and I am thankful for him correcting me as it is better to be proven wrong than to continue to be decived, and the fact is that science doesn't make a conclution untill they have all the evidence so ultimately it can be trusted, I realize that I shouldn't have tried to use my miracle as part of my argument as you have no reason to trust me on that, but it is confirmation in my heart that there is a god weather there is a religion to cover it or not, I just hope that any disputes that happened in this thread will be contained to this thread or other threads like it.

Religion is a very contentious subject, and some of us take it very seriously. However, we have usually been very good at keeping disagreements of ideas to just that, and not allowing them to spill over into how we feel about each other, or into other threads. So, no worries. I will not be holding on to any negative feelings about you because you believe in a god, and I don't. In fact, that sort of thing is completely contrary to everything I believe in. I'm so opposed to religion because of the way that it discriminates against those who think differently. While it may seem like that is what some us are doing, it isn't. We will have a vehement, and perhaps overly aggressive conversation about it, but we will not think less of you because of it.

thankyou it is good to know that it is possable to not hold a grudge over these things, I do agree that religion discrimanates poeple who think differently, (science sais "I think your wrong" and religion responds "your going to hell", talk about the ultimate discrimination.)

Since that's hardly a factual statement, I think most atheists are only miserable in your eyes. Which, in turn, says more about you then it does about the atheists you try to judge.
