One year after the 9-11 attack on New York, New Jersey citizens gathered in the streets to mourn for the loss of their loved-ones and fellow Americans. Part of the ceremony had been to release doves from the hands of many people and let them fly off.
One problem: since they did all the shopping-around at the last minute, the pet stores were
completely out of doves. So, instead, the officials bought pigeons which had been kept in their cages for most of their lives.
The next day, the pigeons were realised, and, to the horror of many, the pigeons took off through the sky, only to to crash into the the windows of office complexes and tall office buildings.
The pet store said that those doves were domesticated, meaning only to be kept as pets in people's homes.
Ain't that nice?
