I usually can go okay on 6-8 hours sleep.
Although my main problem is that where I work I have to change shifts every second week. So one week I will be working from 9am to 5:30pm and the next week I am working from 12pm to 8:30pm.
I really hate this as my body never has time to adjust to the different time cycles. I'm okay when I work the earlier shift, but when it comes to working the later shift I am so tired. I get home, have dinner and fall asleep. Then I don't wake up until 11am the next morning, so in some cases I am sleeping over 12 hours. As a result I hardly have any time to work on things in my own time (i.e. my website) or anything else I like doing.
When I first started working the two shifts it was good. I could stay up really late and sleep in. But gradually it all got to me. Even when I came back from the 7 week Odd Tour, the first week I had to work the late shift I got tired again. And it's not a case of getting too little sleep when I'm on the earlier shift, because when I only worked the earlier time I never had this problem at all.
