How can ME, etc. have a better replay value?

What do you think OWI should add to future games, to give them more replay value(knowing that MO did not have a whole lot), be more creative then just saying multiplayer.

*I think one thing they could do is have something like a Main-quest, a sub-quest and/or bonus-quest at the main menu, which displays each level you have unlocked, for easy access. First you play through the main quest, then the smaller sub-quest gets unlocked, If you get angelic/black quarma in the main-quest, a short bonus-quest gets unlocked where you can find new costumes, cheats, movies, etc.

I suggest somehow making a multiplayer option. That always boosts replayability.

Side quests, not multiplayer...i personally dont think that'd work, ermmm...a actual growing world, i want it to be a little like Fable...

Well MO was gonna be like that, but not exactly. In the game there where gonna be alot of mini quests that you could go on whenever you wanted, but Im not to sure about the bonus quests though.

A little off topic but Fable (Project Ego) sounds like a really great game. I hope it lives up to what the developers are saying about it.

And I agree that it would be cool for future oddworld games to be more like Fable. Lots of little things you can do that keep you playing.

Side quests and bounus's, obviously. There was nothing to do except rebeat MO. Nice to see you back also, haven't seen you posting in a while.

Fully finnished 3D backgrounds where they lead to someplace. None of this ends at a cliff type deal. Get rid the transpierecy in the enviorments and make everything be alive with life cycles. All of it was supose to be in MO but will be in ME.

it would be fun to be able to either play through the game as a bad guy (after beating the game) or be able to unlock all sorts of mini games (like fuzzle testing: or any of that crap thats in mario party but with OW critters)

small things with fun replay value and silly situations.

are we talking about re-play the same game?
then I would say, simply, hide the mudokons somewhere else over and over again
and each time in harder places

Side quests sounds good, also lots of secrets. MO seemed a bit lacking in comparison to the others in the secrets department.Personally, I prefer the first two games, they were more challenging, and took alot longer to complete.(and I miss the exploding farts )

Yeah, it gives you a better sense of accomplishment, and when you reach the end of the game, and discover that you only found half of the secrets, it tends to make you want to go back and search for them all....if it takes weeks!!

These side quests and mini games....I'd love it if some were done in the old-style side scrolling fashion. Don't get me wrong, I love the 3-D world, but mixing it up a bit would be nice too. I understand that creating a 3-D world takes up lots of space, and adding some 2-D might make the game a bit longer.

It'd be GREAT if it could be programmed to do the dishes....Kidding!!!

As for multi-player material, races could be interesting, or a boxing match.Slig target practice, Fuzzle juggling, Glukkon chug-a-lug, just please no dancing games. The thought of Glukkons groovin' to the beat makes me woozy.

Sorry there Xavier....I was just messing around, typing the first things that popped in my head. Unfortunately, I did not get enough sleep last night, so my normally witty self, and my better judgement, are not with me today.

Here's an idea!

Let's say ME is set up so that when you start the game you can go anywhere you've been before, much like a Luigi's Mansion set up. Where you just walk to another place. None of this teleporter shit. This would let you return to places you've been before. This would allow you to go somewhere and go back when you have an item or something.
It also needs lots of stuff to explore. Like Luigi's Mansion, you can always find some more money or hearts in a room after you've been to it. Maybe ME could have a dog-tag-type thing like in MGS2 - this would keep the fanboys interested.

Just a couple of ideas. In summation, ME should be Luigi's Mansion. I have (the ideal) ME before everybody else and it's on the GameCube! Whoot!

hmm....Running through a part of OddWorld that we previously have been to could be interesting, as long as there are changes, i.e.: new creatures, signs of battles that have happened since last visit(new structure damage), OddWolrd graffiti, etc.

But OddWorld should be OddWorld, not a clone of another game. Then it would be CloneWorld. OddWorld has, for me, been a refreshing experience, and I would mourn the day it became a clone.

I don't think there should be mini-games or multiplayer. That just doesn't fit with the Oddworld feel. I think there should be more puzzles, and make 'em harder. But not so hard you want to rip your hair from your skull, light it on fire, and dance a jig on it. But there should be a lot more of them. And make the mudokons say more random things. I liked that they said more things this time, but there should an even larger number of phrases. And I think you should be able to control the slogs with the sligs this time. THAT would make it interesting. And about the sligs: they shouldn't just say stupid insults. They should be able to communicate, too. And I don't think the bullets should look like lasers from Star Wars. They should look more like bullets. Agh... I'm rambling now. It's supposed to be about replay value, not a wish-list.

sure, i could see a bunch of fuzzels running on a pretty colored Mario world race track with rainbows and a panarama at the end. But I would rather kill myself before actually playing that as an actual game. Mario has no pride, but Oddworld has a message, and they know that you can't preach to people so you have to have the message in something that people want to play. Sure the fuzzles could be running from slogs, but still, it just doesn't work... maybe as, like, a possessed fuzzle that needs to go through an area too small for Abe or Munch or whatever... yah that'd be cool. But I still like the multi-player thing. It wouldn't be a death match, but rather Oddworld Inhabitants would probably come up with something new like leading an army of you r mudokons against of an army of sligs (the other player). You could power them each up with different weapons and have an eco-industrial war! MWAHAHAHAHA...*cough*...HA!

MY COOL IDEA!!

OWI is good at making innovative ideas that have never been done before, but here's my idea... When you possess a creature you should be in first person to show a kind of being inside of someones head. The vision would be tinted a slight blue, or something like that to show difference in being inside another creatures head and your own. Sligs/interns would have a gun at the corner like a fps, but wildlife would have a kind of mouth cam. Posession power should drain when you use it too much and regenerate over time. Aiming was hell in MO, fps style is the solution.

I dont think it should be 1st Person. Just Auto-Aim were you can attack the enemie closest to you or one that is more capable of shooting you (When its distanced)

I think any ideas are gonna sound like a wish list..
Munch's Oddysee, you have to tend to business...I got Abe trapped in Reservoir Row because I forgot to possess that first gluk..
I'd hope there'd be more to play with in the character's reactions..maybe I miss the emotions in AE...

I finally got Munch and Abe in where they both 'could' theoretically access a gluk directly- Splinterz CEO- Discovered Munch could drink Bounce and join Abe in the room adjoining the Splinterz CEO's office-discovered what those floating footballs were for...
Abe or Munch got fried as soon as they set foot in there..
Tried again and this time carefully cleared all but one of the small sligs, managed to possess him and send him in..(the big bros wouldn't fit)
There's the gluk behind his desk, back to... can't get any reaction at all from him...the slig could shoot him, but the gluk just picks himself up and continues with his vain banter...doesn't kill him either..and he won't turn around for anything except a possession orb and even then you don't get a rise out of him until it actually hits him, no "Huh?" or"What's this?".
I miss seeing the gluks get flustered that his security forces had failed when Abe turns up..
"Helloooo"...
Their banter did get annoying after a while- I did want to slap one after listening to that incessant "Everyone loves me" or "How did I get so perfect" Gets distracting when I'm trying to think.
Seems to be no way to get a gluk to leave his little 'cage' either though I'm still working on it....
Amybe in ME they'll ditch those zappers because they'don't work'? I missed usin a gluk to command sligs and explore...

I sort of got the sense that a level was missing- the Armory...as there was a newpaper clipping that mentions the armory..there is one point that the shaman has a mission for each of them..Guess they dropped that because of the time crunch...

I certainly missed those crawling and flying sligs...I did see a few slig sleeping bags in MO however.

And I wish there was a way for Abe or munch to pull a mud out of the water. One fell in right by the bank at one point...stupid mud.

As for the 'Star wars' look to the bullets- if it wasn't so I wouldn't have been able to aim at all...

Some people don't like fps style, but it would be good to have a choice..

The idea of a bonus game- two words, Slig Storm....

Multiplayer?, maye one could play Munch and another play Abe?

One more thing, those little huts were tantalizing...Maybe have some little tidbits or clues about the history of Oddworld or how these creatures live, ect....maybe that's just my Myst/Riven fandom acting up...
