Question Seasons on Oddworld

Does anybody know how many seasons there are on Oddworld? Do they have four like us or do they have less? Maybe they have more seasons than us that we've never heard of...

I suppose it's possible that the inhabitants of Oddworld split their year up into more or less than four seasons. I'd think they probably use something very similar to what we use, time-wise, since we know they have days, hours, minutes and seconds the same as we do.

But I'd guess that, Oddworld being a real planet, they have the same annual cycle we do - cold in 'winter', hot in 'summer', with a 'spring' and 'autumn' in between. Whether the Mudokons or whoever use those terms is beyond anyone at this time.

Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for all the forum members who live below the equator to tell me I've got everything in reverse, or that Oddworld could be tilted differently to Earth. I look forward to reading them.

I don't think it's possible to have exotic seasons, really. I mean, you could have a complicated system with moons altering the tilt of the planet and suchlike, but ultimately there is only really one way a planet can tilt: Hot to Cold and back again...

I agree with Max (it seems like I do a lot of that). Unless there are some strange other forces which would change it, which is very likely, Oddworld would have four main seasons just like Earth. I think it does, simply to spare my brain the pondering the many alternatives.

Reasons why it might NOT have four seasons: Oddworld might have multiple suns (highly doubtful), the many moons might have some strange effect and most plausibly... the planet might not be tilted.

Perhaps at that time one sun was behind the other...

But it probably wasn't. My answer is still four main seasons.

I would figure that Oddworld has four main seasons, its almost exactly like Earth. I think that the moons would probably have little effect on Oddworlds tilt due to its massive size but considering the large number of moons Oddworld has then I would figure that Oddworld has about the same tilt as Earth has. The only thing I would figure different about the seasons on Oddworld contrary to Earth's is that they are all longer than Earths would be.

Our forums need some hardcore geologists, biologists, physicists, atronomers, etc... Then we could get answers to these questions really easily without having to hurt our brains.

Abby is a very good Biologist, and I like to consider myself a passable Physicist. Never been keen on Astronomy, though. Seems a bit dull. Cosmology is much better, since it actually involves Science, rather than just making maps...

As for Geologists, well, just ask me and I'll ask my friend Dave next time I see him - he's a Geology Nut. His favourite joke is "Geology Rocks!"...

You know, I think I could actually hear the groans of everyone around the globe who read that.

Oddworld seems to attracts more artists than scientists.

I am happy to consider myself both. Well, neither, really, but with potential to be either...

As a side-note, in a debating competition at my college one time, Nicola Broughton (super-intelligent person with no life, you know the sort - every education establishment in the world has at least one Nicola Broughton) said "There is absolutely no evidence that Global Warming exists, and I say this as a Scientist.", to which Chris Moores (nice guy, clever but not arrogantly so, and still very witty and cheerful) stood up on a Point of Information, and said "I hardly think that your GCSE in Chemistry quite qualifies you to disagree with the Massachussets Institute of Technology..."

Needless to say, the room was in hysterics, and I would have felt sorry for Nicola if it weren't for the fact that she's a Tory Cow...

This had absolutely nothing to do with this topic, but it came to me as I found myself almost describing myself as a Scientist at the beginning of the post...

And David Neave was his name.

Please feel free to unwind before your big trip. We don't mind. Just don't hurt us with your huge post count, and we'll respect you. :worship:

What was this topic about? Ah yes... I wonder if Oddworld has a festive season, or any 'holidays' at all. We've seen the Mudokons celebrating Christmas, but that might just be Alf introducing them to our own odd traditions.

I would think that the Mudokons would have a Harvest Moon, but then again they have around 24 moons so... I don't know what Im talking about.

Hmmm... an over-weight mudokon with a beard full of grey feathers, a red loincloth and a big bag full of toys... breaking into mudokon huts to give the younglings toys... sounds interesting.

I wonder if they celebrate Halloween?
