I'm more of an inderpendent person myself, but these are local Australian bands

1. The Al Jaffas
2. My Dog is a Cat
3. Dimmies but not Forges
4. Crazy Doctor
5. I'm a Liar

They're funny sounding bands, but they are actually quite good. Watch out for The Al Jaffas hit "Rollin' down the Steps"

I have nothing in particular against Blink 182 and Sum 41 (I don't like them, but I don't despise people who do), but I draw the line at describing them as "Alternative"... They are about as mainstream as music can get...

Exactly. And it's not like there is anything wrong with being alternative. Of course, being "mainstream" or not isn't a huge portion of their musical genre.

And on a similar note, I just got back from the "Pop Disaster Tour"! Wicked, wicked concert. What respect I had lost for blink-182 has now been restored. They played 3 versions of "Happy Holidays, You Bastard!" (Morgan knows what I'm talking about): the normal version, a super cheesey slow version, and a way fast punked-out version! And Green Day... well, it truely was the time of my life! *rimshot* I got punched in the face while moshing during "Jaded". It was great!

I just had to respond to this...You bitches are full of ****ING SHIT.....not all of you but more or less, the most. First of all, you claim that all these types of music sound the same, but you know what? YOU all sound the same...you're repeating each other and focusing on so much shit. Second...you little kids obviously know nothing about hip hop. That shit on the tv? the radio? It SUCKS and its not hip hop. Ja Rule, Jay-Z and all those Cash money Hoes are not hip hop...I don't even know what the **** they are they're just terrible. You have to dig much much deeper to dismiss an entire genre of music like that. Go underground, way underground and you will find some incredible hip hop, that is not only good....(and I really mean it it sounds NOTHING like that other shit) but is very political. Most of the hip hop I have discusses topics you white boys probably don't think about, like terrible conditions in the ghettos, racial reality...and some you do....(anarchy, riots, legalization of weed)..open your eyes. Now that that's over with, how about some positive vibes..In rock I really love Bob Marley, as you can see....At The Drive-In is absolutely great, Nirvana is too, the Hives are the shit, Sparta. I love alot of reggae, but mostly roots. The new reggae is pretty awesome, they are always screaming in crazy accents. In hip hop I like alll the political shit, Dead Prez, The Coup, Dialated Peoples, Swollen Members, Jurrasic 5 etc. Its all good. Oh and another thing, MTV is shit.

Dude, chill out! There is no need to take personal offense at anybody else's musical taste... Not one of us insulted you, and yet you come out with this barrage of abuse, just because we don't share your taste in music.

I had thought that you were one of the more intelligent and reasonable of the forumers here. Indeed, I plugged you as an ally against the torrents of bollocks we recieve from some of the more moronic members, but maybe I was wrong... This post was arrogant and patronising, as well as totally unprovoked. So what if we don't like exactly the same music as you? You shouldn't take musical taste so personally. As for your accusation that we are ignorant of Hip-Hop: Of course we are. Why should we take the trouble to study in detail something that we just don't think sounds good? Be reasonable, here... How do you expect us to have heard any of the decent Hip-Hop when you say yourself that you have to "dig deep"? The only people who are going to dig deep in a genre are people who already like what they've heard, and since (as you said yourself) all the exposure is given to talentless f*cks with more money than creativity, how do you expect us to have got into it?

If you want us to get into the same music as you, don't just hurl abuse at us, since that will just make us think you're a total wanker, and we won't exactly be eager to be like you... Point us in the right direction, instead of just attacking us, okay? And if we still don't like it, just leave us alone, since our taste is none of your f*cking business...

Dance. Trance. Techno. Electronic. Anything with fake instruments. Some rock. Some abstract shit you hear on Triple J and you never know who the artist is or anything and it sounds totally crap at first until you find youreslf moving to it and thinking what the hell is this anyway!?! Sonic Animation. Scooter. Kylie Minogue. ATC. Brooklyn Bounce. Various Dj's. Teeny bopper chart singles can only be ok if they are completely re-mixed.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I posted this months ago in a thread of the same topic, but here it is again!

All I listen to is music from the 50's 60's and some 70's... but then I like most "old" things. Some of my preferred artists/bands include:

The Shirelles
Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
Ritchie Valens
Buddy Holly
The Big Bopper
Chi-Lites
Jan and Dean
The Animals
Tommy James and the Shondells
Beatles
John Lennon
Blue Oyster Cult
Bob Dylan
Elvis Presley
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Doobie Brothers
Dionne Warwick
Dire Straits
Elton John
Grass Roots
Four Seasons
Marvin Gaye
The Platters
Yardbirds
Simon and Garfunkel
Rolling Stones
The Temptations
Ben E. King / The Drifters
Dion and the Belmonts
The Doors
The Moody Blues
Neil Diamond
......

And many others. My list is getting profusely long, but you get the idea!

I am also going to have to ask that the arguing and flaming come to a cease; I will take drastic action if need be.

I really only listen to music from Final Fantasy now days. There is such a variety in the music (ranging from classical to even a heavy metal track). Nobuo Uematsu is a brilliant composer, being not only able to capture the theme of the games, but also producing music that is great to listen to on it's own.

I used to be a huge fan of heavy metal music, with my favorite band being Metallica. I sometimes listen to them still, but not as often as I used to (maybe I am getting old). Other than that I don't mind rock and alternative music. Or if a song sounds good (no matter what style it is), I will listen to it.

Abe Babe...

Actually, Bidda just said what I did in a more emotional, frustrated way. Some people are emotionally attatched to music. Bidda defended a term that is mostly misused. I understand this, due to my philosophic nature, very well. I will defend the term "Satanism" if I must, too, if it is being used incorrectly and accused of things it is not in contact with.

Gee. Can't we all just get along? (this is also directed at Bidda, even if I can understand, it does mean I excuse it)

In classic rock, Pink Floyd: Animals, Frank Zappa: Apostrophe, Frank Zappa: We're Only in it For the Money, Pink Floyd: The Wall, The Beatles: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles: Magical Mystery Tour, Pere Ubu: Dub Housing and Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon are some of my favorites. In newer music, Primus: Sailing The Seas of Cheese, Primus: Pork Soda, Primus: Frizzle Fry, NIN: Broken, NIN: Pretty Hate Machine, Mr. Bungle: Disco Volante, Oysterhead: The Grand Pecking Order, and Radiohead: Kid A are some of my favorites. Way too many to list...

Uhhh....alright. I didn't take any personal offense with the responses people put, I just wanted to make some things clear. Sometimes my tone sounds loud and angry, but hey, i think that the best way to get something across to someone is to shove it in their face and get them to notice. If they don't agree, fine, but at least they looked. Don't worry Danny, its all in good intentions.

David Bowie: Black Tie White Noise, Aladdin Sane, Earthling, Let's Dance.
The Beatles: The White Album, Revolver.
The Chem Bros: Come With Us, Dig Your Own Hole.
The Prodigy: The Dirtchamber Sessions, Music For The Jilted Generation.

Jean Michel Jarre: Oxygene, Zoolook, Metamorphoses, Odyssey Through O2.
Rob Zombie: Hellbilly Deluxe, The Sinister Urge.
Pet Shop Boys: West, Introspective.
Talking Heads: Little Creatures, Naked.
Garbage: all 3 (G, Versio 2.0, Beautiful Garbage)
Fluke: Risotto, Six Wheels On My Wagon.
Pink Floyd: The Wall, Dark Side Of The Moon, The Division Bell (listen to this while playing the first Crash Bandicoot; it's surprisingly effective!)
Future Sound Of London: Dead Cities, ISDN.
Armand van Helden: Killing Puritans, 2 Future 4 U.
Space Raiders: both (Don't Be Daft and Hot Cakes).
The Rolling Stones: Bridges To Babylon, Voodoo Lounge.
The Police: Zenyatta Mondatta, Ghost In the Machine.

My favorite album is Electro Glide In Blue by @440, one of the most diverse I've ever bumped into that's not a compilation CD!

Mwahahaha. I'll eventually convert all of you to fourfortyism! With or without brainwashing! ;)

For those that don't get it: the above is a joke. Except for the favorite album line

He released over 200 facking albums?! Gordon Bloody Bennet!

There was a man on NMTB the other week who had 38 albums; I thought that was a lot!

Pinkgoth2, I might check out @440 now; they remixed some of Jarre's work very well, so I'll probably like them.

Favourite albums......here goes nothing...

Garbage: Beautiful Garbage
Garbage: Version 2.0
Garbage: Garbage
Coolio: It Takes A Thief
Coolio: My Soul
RHCP: Californation
Cypress Hill: Black Sunday

I'm not really one of those heavy rock types really, I don't like
REALLY rock with shouting and screaming(with the expection of RHCP which they do shout sometimes not much )
I like some rap, but most of it kinda sucks really.
I hate pop music with the expection of some(Jamirquoi etc).
Generally I like kinda old music and new music. Depends.
