Because it'll most likely be a new and intriguing way of playing the game?

You've ALREADY played SligStorm (except the regular slig isn't albino).

I'm just saying: it's understandable why Lanning hasn't released Sligstorm as a game (not a fangame).

It wouldn't really make sense to launch as a standalone. Wasn't the original intention to release it as a bonus disc in an Oddysee / Exoddus double pack that never came to fruition? You could argue that you've already played Alf's Escape because you've already played as Abe in N'n'T by your point Vlam.

It starts to get gimmicky when you play as a slig for too long. You can do a lot more with Abe (and still play as a slig). Moreover, he was supposed to escape from RuptureFarms...

I know what you might say: let's do a "slig+". But: 1. He is supposed to be "weak". 2. It's too much work for OWI (only for a DLC).

A Novel/Graphic Novel would be a great way to tell a story like Sligstorm.

I'm all for a Oddworld Comic book or graphic novel series.

There is no doubt Oddworld works best as a game, but I think a spin-off comic series could work too. It could be a great opportunity to learn more about the lore, and not have to focused on the main characters.

Even if it were produced like Nature Magazines or something.. Showing the wildlife, how the animals survive etc would be amazing

I'd agree that it's better visually, but I'd prefer the movies than the games. I just can't justify spending several hours to observe a fifteen minute story these days.

They changed the distorted picture on the Soulstorm website, it's now showing Abe's eyes. I have never been more freaked out in my life.

I dunno if its just me or if its just hard to tell, but his face shape looks very different - are they revamping mudokons/abes face shape perhaps? In that one updated mp4 of his face it looks like you can spot his mouth, and it looks alot closer to his eyes than normal, unless it is just the darkness playing tricks on me

I don't think they would change Abe's face too much. They'll properly just revamp his textures giving him new details like cuts and scars, just like his Hand and Chest.

I'm very excited to finally see it though. OWI must be close.

Looks like Frima Studios are recruiting for Soulstorm. Was it strange of me to think that they had people in place already? With the marketing campaign and ARG and such I've felt like they were fairly further down the road.

Would these be extra positions, or would this constitute a core part of the team? I'm not familiar with the size of game design firms. i.e. Could there be a large team already working on the game?

Also:

Abe l'extraterrestre
Abe the Alien. I find that mildly amusing.

What do you think the chances are of "Sligstorm" (as in the fabled albino slig game) being released as DLC to the new game?
Seems like a plausible possibility to me.

As long as they have crawling and flying sligs, I'd agree that it's plausible. They already have the idea for the rough storyline, clearly several fans would love it (being sold on the idea already), and they already would have all the controllable slig types from the base game! That would be great IMO, and I think it could potentially earn them some nice profit if they decide to make it paid DLC
