I believe you can get a refund if you leave the film halfway through.

Basically only says you can never get a refund, even if you didn't watch it at all.

The only time I've personally got a refund was being kicked out of an 18 film for being 16. Otherwise it's just anecdotal. I don't think there's a legal obligation but (and perhaps it's only a small number) some cinemas provide them - leaving long before the film has finished being one of them. I imagine it's for customer service purposes.
