Oddworld SligStorm - Enhanced by 3D?

I don't know about you guys... but if they made SligStorm for the Xbox it would be cool if it was like a Halo, Perfect Dark or even James Bond.

What I mean is an Oddworld First Person (uh... Slig) Shooter!
I think it would be wicked, what about youz guys?

OH YEAH! does ne1 like my new sig? I made it on... paint. (I SUCK!) like it?

very interesting idea, although I doubt Oddworld would make it 1st person. One thing at least we have to hope that they actually make Slig storm sometime.

SligStorm was a project like AO and AE, why should it be in 3D?
I think 2D is fine

If Oddworld ever decided to re-tinker the idea of SligStorm, I'd hope for it to be a 2D sidescroller just like AO and AE. Maybe we'll see it packaged with a future game, or perhaps as an unlockable feature.

Maybe we wont see it at all.

What is SligStorm? I've never heard of it before, although I take it that it's a game idea from OWI. Any sites with more information about it?

well yes it was a project of game who was (temporary?) canceled...

and it was about an albino Slig who escape out of the (SligBarracks ?) cause the other sligs don't like him cause he's albino

Just an expansion of that...

Back when OWI games were published by GT Interactive, the team decided to bundle Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus together in a double-game pack - you know the sort of thing. However, with this pack they decided to add an extra CD.

This CD would be a behind-the-scenes documentary explaining the story of how Lorne, Sherry and Oddworld came to be, with Interviews with the team, pictures of production work and work-in pragress and the like.

At the end of the video, as a special gift (presumably for those that had bough AO and AE and had to buy it again for this extra CD) they decided to compose a short game (yes, you've guessed it - SligStorm) based on the then-familiar 2D gaming engine.

In it you would control a Slig Larva rejected by Skillya and other Sligs because of its mutation (on Earth in the wild, albino creatures are rejected, even killed by parents and others of the species). The gameplay would revolve around this larva as it struggled to escape from a Slig Birthing Complex.

The whole game would be as long as the Slig Barracks in AE, and feature a couple of minutes of film to set the story and conclude it also.

Thanks for the info. I did see at Alf's Rehab and Tea that the project has been canned for the time being, but they must be thinking about putting out a AO/AE combo deal. Seems like everyone else who has more than one game in a series does.

To OWI: I'll buy it! Bring it on!

The suggestion about it being a 3D FPS reminds me of Half-Life: Opposing Force, where instead of playing Gordon Freeman, you play a Marine trying to take him out and cover up the disaster during the same time-frame as regular Half-Life. I hope you would be shooting glukkons instead of mudokons. Or maybe just other sligs -- yeah!

I will buy it the price of a normal game => 69.99 euros !
I will it ! I will it ! I will it ! I will it ! I will it ! I will it ! I will it !

Out of all the things they could do to try and resell AO and AE why would they want to make a game about a albino Slig!?

I would only buy those games again if they fixed the mistakes in AO and AE first... When you look at AO for instance you can see that from the placement of enermys and stuff that it was originally ment to be side scrolling instead of its frame by frame format. It must have been a sacrafice because the average computer of the time was not powerfull enuff to generate the 3d rendered foregrounds (Xbox would be more then powerful enuff) . AE was clearly made with this limertation inmind.

Ah, so that's what Sligstorm is/was. Cool. It's too bad it was canned, however temporarily. We could've seen all sorts of cool stuff, like Skillya, and Sliglets, and so on.
So, was it the same deal with hand of Odd, it was just going to be a package xtra, or what?

It would be cool, but I think they should make AO and AE on Xbox with maybe some new features, like slig storm and new gameplay elements such as enhanced 2d and more.
