I bought Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition on Steam when it was on the Community's Choice sale for 50% off. I'm now up to the part where I have to fight the Bell Gargoyles, so far I've enjoyed it, can't wait to explore the new content.

Also started playing Borderlands 2 with a friend, we plan on playing it through fully in co-op.

I'd just like to reiterate how great Aquaria is. Everyone should give it a try.

WoF*, intelligent no-nonsense MAGICAL MERMAID protaganist.

Dynamithix, swirly, pseudo-aerial dogfight combat.

Bullet Magnet, enemies including giant nautili, giant jellyfish, and, erm, giant predatory tunicates (which are actually fucking terrifying in-game).

Jordan, monster design like a Japanese Mega Drive game.

OANST, it's a exploration game with painterly graphics with ridiculous amounts of hidden areas and crap to find, and it's made Derek "Spelunky" Yu. Yeah, yeah, your back. The SteamBox is a confirmed thing that's going to happen by Valve, so if you ever get one you'll have no excuse.

Manco, mystery upon enigma upon conundrum. It's like the Twelve Monkeys of the gaming world. Every unusual object and detail in this game is significant and relevant, though much of it won't make sense until the second playthrough. Even then, you'll have to either learn to read Aquarian (which isn't too hard; it's just a Roman substitution code) or replace the symbol sprites to see everything.

And Phylum, my man, this is "Use of recurring musical motifs to induce paranoia: The Game". Without wishing to spoil anything, music has power here, and it's perhaps the only game where the soundtrack is improved by a second playthrough.

I played and liked it, so I agree with MM.

I took a bit too long break from it, forgot everything and when I returned I was so lost in the world that I couldn't really continue playing. My advice is to not take long breaks.

There's also Aether from Edmund McMillen's "The Basement Collection" game/game compilation

It kinda looks like a cross between Rayman Origins and Ecco the Dolphin. Could be rad but I’m broke after all these holiday sales.

That's pretty spooky how you know how to sell that game to each of us. I can't speak for anyone else, but you were spot-on with me.

Just beat Thomas Was Alone; All achievements too. I really liked it. It had some really nice mechanics and was a quite charming game. The music and the sound effects gave it a nice retro vibe, whilst the narration gave the rectangular shapes you play as personalities.

I recommend it, it really short (took me 4 hours to beat) and it's a good way to kill a few hours.

I played about five hours of Borderlands 2 with a friend. Really fun game so far, it's also filled with pop-culture references. Lost track of time and now it's 2013 already, whoo boy.

I bought Thomas Was Alone in the Steam sales and assumed that it would sit on my backlog for a while, but Crashpunk's post prompted me to load it up and play. I agree with everything he says.

Gameplay-wise, it's quite possibly the perfect 2d platformer. Not too difficult, not too easy, and there's a wide enough range of abilities and level styles to keep your interest.

Don't be turned off by the simple graphics; this game is proof that you don't need elaborate graphics to have a compelling, emotional experience. The little blocks each have their own personalities (as described by the narration, but each one fits their gameplay abilities), and there are quite a few deep moments, both sad and uplifting.

I've been playing Legend of Grimrock since yesterday and i'm quite addicted to it, I hadn't heard or seen anything about it before other than 'it's good' (a friend of mine also described to me his little team he was putting together but that's it) so i wasn't entirely sure what to expect, I imagined it a sort of 2d platformer as it kind of seems like something pretty common with indie games, so yeah it was a pretty pleasant surprise of a game, its little puzzles and the ambience at first kind of reminded me of Dracula, not that i can actually remember much of Dracula that is.

I've had that game for ages and have started over so many times i don't even know why, i always find myself avoiding the main quests, still haven't completed them.

Anyone know if the Skyrim DLC is any good?

Dawnguard, from what I've heard and seen from my boyfriend playing it, is excellent. It also makes vampires and werewolves more interesting (but I'd still recommend downloading Simple Werewolf Buff).

Hearthfire... only worth it if you adore customisation and crafting. Shit for anyone who hates pouring an abundant amount of time into that sort of stuff, as gathering materials can be monotonous and even tedious, to the point where even I'm wondering exactly why I'm doing it (and I usually love that crap). But then I look at how beautiful my manor is looking so far and I feel like it was worth it for me.

Oh, in case you couldn't tell, I'm playing Skyrim right now. A lot of Skyrim. Level 25 at the moment, gone full mage when I was previously mage-archer, heavily specced out enchant-wise on Magicka and Magicka regen. Specialising in Destruction, particularly fire. Fire Rune is a very silly spell.

I am not heavily modding my game, but I have snagged a bunch of vanity mods, and a couple of game fixes that seemed fair and balanced but made the game more interesting - I love the Treebalance Smithing mod, and it is the primary reason my Smithing is my highest skill at almost 80 now.

Tired Glutton (50)

:
Oh, in case you couldn't tell, I'm playing Skyrim right now. A lot of Skyrim. Level 25 at the moment, gone full mage when I was previously mage-archer, heavily specced out enchant-wise on Magicka and Magicka regen. Specialising in Destruction, particularly fire. Fire Rune is a very silly spell..
I tried full mage when i first started buuuut I eventually found the mage/archer combo to be more satisfying together [: by the sounds of it I'll probably get the DLC once I've finally decided to finish the main quests, though, i'm not toooo far in with my most recent character, and Legend of Grimrock takes away a lot of my game time so that might not be for a while

I'm Level 22. I seem to be quite successful at levelling up things that I was previously poor at, like for example, I just recently started pickpocketing sleeping guards and having lots of fun doing so.

I seem to be killing a dragon everytime I play, I love Fus Ro Dah! I'm stuck with low level spells at the moment, hoping to learn a few more soon. Anyone else struggling for inventory space? This happens to me in Fallout too (at least I can give dragon bones to Lydia).

I’m always struggling with my inventory. I hoard all the valuable shit I get and don’t like selling things if I don’t know I can get another one.

I’ve taken to just carrying the armor and weapons I use, then whenever I finish a dungeon heading back to Breezehome to add to the pile.

I’ve actually had a couple of occasions where I was overencumbered but couldn’t bear to part with anything in my possession, and walked somewhere I could deposit things the hard way. Nothing quite as tense as walking through the wilderness knowing that if a sabre cat spots you you’re dead.
