It happens to deer a lot in stressful times, they simply just don't grow their antlers back. You could say that this is a big difference, but i think the same rules apply. Many animals also give birth to babies with birth defects under very stressful influences. That would mean that Stranger is really young, or else the steef mass extinction finished shortly after his birth...
I dunno. Personal preferences i suppose.

He meant naturally born without them. Also doesn't stranger have edged stumps? That would suggest they'd been sawn off.

that's true, you can see it on the back of the diagram, but maybe that's just raised pieces of skull like many mammals with horns have.

Nother question, why are many of the fauna or oddworld eyeless?

Evolution dictates they didn't need eyes, if I remember correctly - but don't hold me to it - they have the equivalent of sonar. Though those green orbs that make you invisible in AE would then have to mask Abe to eyes and to sonar sight.

Paramites sense the world primarily by smell. I believe Scrabs sense the world, at least the inhabitants of it, by electroreception. As for why there are so many, I can see two likely reasons.

Lorne loves and is fascinated by animals that deviate from our expectations of life, hence also the heavy use of so-called 'super species' as a reproductive method.

It's more to do with being a reason for Lorne to have a whole species hold a single person in high regard. No need to play with elections or feudal systems when your leader is literally essential for your species's survival. It also serves as a mechanism to explain species-wide characteristics, for example, why all Sligs are cruel bullies and why all Glukkons are ruthless capitalists.

Plus, yeah, it means the affairs of the worker castes aren't doused in rubbish romance formulae.

That's a good point, actually. OWI went to fairly long lengths to inform players that Abe had no sexual organs, otherwise fans would be dying to see him get a girlfriend.

Based on the earlier games, you might think that mudokons were monogendered or had zero sexual dimorphism.

There's probably a reason why there have been no hermaphrodite love stories. At least not between people who don't look like hot girls.

Also, why the hell would sligs evolve without legs? I don't see any evolutionary benefits to that.

I think Gwan's point about the Sligs was that they couldn't possibly evolve like that. Snakes did because snakes' skill involves being sneaky and getting into small holes, Sligs are halfway there but have hands, so, either no hands, or some legs is his point (I think). Sligs are cool though, and even though not physically possible, they should never ever change them. (Plus it is Oddworld, anything can happen)

Sligs originally evolved in swamps if I remember rightly. I can see how in that environment, having arms for fishing, paddling, grabbing sticks/roots/etc would be beneficial, but having legs which may get stuck in mud might be less useful.

Perhaps Sligs are good foragers and swimmers.
