Okay, I'm not going to say exactly how I did it (because then you would all just copy me and I wouldn't be special anymore *sob*), but Oddworld Inhabitants sent me a cache of goodies in the mail the other day, cool things like posters and a shirt and a hat and stuff, some of it signed. This, of course, is pretty dang amazing, but I don't mean to brag. No, instead, I come before you all a broken man, a man with no will to go on, lest you can help him. Amongst the cooly-cool stuff they sent, those generous folks at OWI included six little tubes of something called Sour Watermellon Gabbit Juice. It's syrupy, and green, and comes in little test-tubes for packaging. All innocent seeming enough, until you disover that it is INCREDIBLY ADDICTIVE!!! I tried a little bit of this concoction, and now I'm hooked. I'm a juice junkie. I must have more, but I told myself I would only drink one of the things, save the rest for collector's items. DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN ATTAIN MORE GABBIT JUICE!? I NEED IT! I NEED IT BAD!

Well, you could always just shut the juice away and never look at it. Even if you know where it is and you're thinking about how delicious it is, it helps if you can't see it. And, of course, if you never try it again, you can't get re-adicted.

Unless you see a watermelon in the shops.

But I don't know where you can get Oddworld Gabbit Juice. I really think Oddworld should make commercial food products, or Gabbit Juice at least. That would teach SoBe to ruin our universe.

What do you mean, Sobe ruined our universe? I think it's a funny little in joke. I mean, it would suck if they did it too much- let's hope they don't turn Oddworld into Bubsy, of course. Money for OWI is good, though, they deserve it.
I actually want to say I'm sorry for starting this one the way I did. It was really late, and I wasn't thinking about how self-serving that first entry there sounds. Didn't mean to brag so overtly. Yeesh.
I dunno, quitting cold turkey might not be physically possible. You don't know just how good this stuff is. Mmm... it's basically corn syrup, flavor, and food coloring. Yumm, corn syrup in a tube.

Are there really no SoBe ads in the European version, Xavier? What's your source? Have you got the game?

That really would be neat. Although I do feel sorry for anyone who has to suffer those infernal commercial images.

Yeah, I have the game and I was realy happy when I finiched the game to see not any SoBe machine, only "healt's up"

I understand that it would've been nice to keep Oddworld devoid of Earth references, and, yeah, it does seem a little contradictory to the most obvious artistic message, but would you prefer the alternative- instead of sobe in an oddworld game, oddworld characters on a sobe commercial? Abe and Munch discussing the "cool, refreshing taste" during an ad break in a mainstream sitcom? Eww, that's not a pretty image. I think OWI did the Sobe bit because they needed the money, and at least it's a company and product they honestly endorce. And, besides, they even joke about it in the game itself!-"Shameless commercial sponsorship, at it's best". Remember when they talked about chopping off abe's fourth digit because they didn't want to pay Japanese censors who capitolized on their own people's customs- if they were being completely adherent to artistic integrity, OWI would have said "screw you" and published their stuff anyway. Instead, though, they made a statement with a detail that most people wouldn't even notice. It's all connected to the message of Oddworld: corporate influence is disturbing, and sometimes unavoidable. The sobe intrusion is the most miniscule example of it I've ever seen, so lets' just thank Odd we aren't seeing Sligs drinking Pepsi, Interns with N'syc Hats and Nike's on Gluks.

Why? Commercialism and Non-game OWI products are just as related as image swaps and theories.

I get this stuff from the Discovery Channel Store in the mall, dunno watcha call it, but it is in a beaker with a mad scientest on the front. It comes in all flavors, watermelon, pina colada, etc. all of which are sour.

Most likely exactly the same liquid stuff as you got...
