i think it would be really cool to have journalists or historians on oddworld. they could be a different family like the vykkers in suqeek.

For some reason, I think that Libraries and Archives and Records Offices would be run by Chroniclers. I just imagine the Chroniclers being general all-purpose bureaucrats...

Journalism would be by the same people who run the Media - Who runs the Daily Deception? What about MOM?

I tend to imagine that librarians and historians would be this stereotypical new specie which has a wheezy, dust-choked voice and who spends its whole life deep inside buildings full of documents with little spectacles on their faces and do nothing but keep rcords. I reckon that'd be cool. It may be part of the Quintology too.
Most of the Oddworld characters are steroetypical, Gluks in their suits and cigars, Headley the auctioneer with his accent and rich look.

Yes, a wheazy, dusty old species would be ideal as a historian species - but why would there be a historian species? The Oddworld we've seen is run by desire - corporate greed and sick lust. Also, what part would they play in the story?

But still, a journalist species would be quite interesting. 'The Media' certainly does imply a negative collective, and I think they would fit in seemlessly, and possibly importantly, into the Quintology.

What I want to know is who built the factories. I imagine some sort of spider-creature with a workman's clevage, but I doubt it.

posses the media is a kind of power...
But I don't think they would do an other specie only for that.

Perhaps not, but media isn't really a Glukkon thing, or a Vykkers thing. It's not based on finance, so the Chroniclers aren't interested, and it's not based on rock music or big guns, so the Interns and Sligs aren't really interested.

Hm. That brings you to thinking that, if there existed a 'journalist' species on Oddworld, what else would they have to do to become worthy of a whole individual race?

Nope, can't think of anything.
