Warhammer: The only story in the world where the plot development goes exclusively backwards.

Just for once, I'd like a mysterious alien race of shaded origin to remain mysterious.
The Necrons do not have more character now. They just have a completely different character, and this time minus the depth of intrigue. Now they talk! To humans! In Low Gothic! What happened to the freakish silence and alien gestures? Plus they got rid of Pariahs, and Wraiths, and Tomb Spyders. They were the most characterful units the Necrons had, even if Tomb Spyders were just Sentinels with a thorax. They had an Egyptian/Zombie/Terminator/Cyborg/Robot/Undead vibe, now they just have an Egyptian/Robot vibe. By my count, that's four less mashup elements, and mashup is the heart and soul of Warhammer.
I don't know who the new staff at GW are, but they genuinely are less good than the old ones. Sculpting, writing, game dev, it's all going down. The old guys used to lecture about how they tried to make everything fit together with the open-ended stuff their predecessors left. The new guys are the opposite, wanting to 'give us answers' and 'reveal the mysteries'.
You know when the mystery is revealed in a story? When all the answers are given?
The End, dammit.
Good luck. It's been coming on a while, but I may finally get round to cancelling my White Dwarf subscription.
Okay, rant over.
(They did it to the Tyranids too.)
