I plan to download TF2 in the recent future.

On a related note, I also plan to join the OWF Steam group in the recent future.

I bought Alpha Protocol yesterday for pretty cheap. It got really mixed reviews, but it doesn't seem too bad. The AI's really dumb though. Otherwise it seems like a decent espionage game.

Also, I bought a game called Project Eden for the PS2 and it's really strange and hard.

Thanks to Dynamithix, I picked up Child of Eden since it is a prequel to Rez which is one of my all time favourite games, so I saw it on offer for £25 brand new at Game, I took it to the cashier who told me that they had a pre owned copy for £19, so I went for that, but turns out that they were sold out of pre owned copies so I went for the new one instead, but the guy still only charged me £19

When I got it home I was a little dissapointed, at first I felt that the game was bizarely confusing and just felt inferior to Rez, but when I played it more and more, I am now of the opinion that it is better than Rez and it is now one of my all time favourites. Totally love it, but it can make you dizzy if you play it too long...

Controls are now manual; no more one-two pass.

Much more fluid movement.

Choice of commentary.

Turkish/Czech leagues removed. Galatasaray is now in 'Rest of World'

Peru added to International.

Honestly? Could've been better. More Greek/Serbian/Croatian teams needed. Wales and Japan national team once again left out, and seriously, who the fuck uses the Australian/American/Korean leagues anyway?

Past that, yes. Pretty good.

I heard it would be better without the repetitive sidemissions. Is it really just things like "Go to the other side of the island to get me 5 boxes of fruitjuice!"?

EDIT: Oh, and Forza Motorsport 4 demo came out today for Gold members on XBL. It's really gorgeous. I spent at least 5 minutes just looking at the Ferrari, haha. The cars control really well too. I haven't bought any racing games for ages with the exception of Blur and I lost that earlier this year, haha.

Also @ Dixy - What about the tackling for O or B (depending on your console), apparently you can basically just stick your leg out and they run around you.

That's part of what I don't like. Although I'm only in act II, the majority of the side quests have been boring fetch crap. "I lost my teddy bear/necklace/etc, go find it", "I got separated from ____, will you look for him?" or "Bring me X cans/bottles of Y". And I really thought I'd enjoy the lack of firearms and emphasis on melee combat, but after a while it just gets old. Maybe it's because I find myself using the same combat strategy for just about every zombie/infected that I encounter. It's pretty much just "Kick, kick, swing, kick, beat/slice whatever I've knocked to the ground" over and over.

I keep waiting for some awesome plot twist/development, but so far...Not so much.

The game itself is quite good, but the real hook is the best vidya gimmick in recent years: Narration. It's just a laugh to have the frequently unrealistic actions we make in games forcibly tied into a story. Also the general atmosphere is pretty nice.

As I've said before, I'm not really a fan of anime, but spend any amount of time on the internet and it will eventually vomit up something that sounds compelling enough to justify the art. So as a Lovecraft fan and general lover of creepy space-doom I played Saya no Uta.

OH GOD. SOME THINGS CANNOT BE UNSEEN

WoF seems to like VNs with gratuitous amounts of gore (plus scary preadatory little girls), he'd probably enjoy it more than me.

I remained sympathetic towards her until the... colourful issue with Yo. Until then she'd just been doing evil out of survival instincts or devotion to Fuminori, but That Event was borne out of some inherent cruelty on her part. Fuminori was a dick from start to finish though. I'm still claiming his being a dick rubbed off on Saya.

Also also MM I know you hate anime etc etc but I have to recommend you read/play Ever17: The Out of Infinity. It's the best vn I've ever played and I reckon you'll like it because it's very sci-fi. Also contains time travel dickery.

If you do decide to give it a go though, wikipedia's Detailed Plot section will absolutely ruin it for you. So don't read that.

Also give it the benefit of the doubt (It's good, but not incredibly so) until the fifth route where it suddenly becomes one of the most intelligent science fiction stories I've ever read.

EDIT: Also the pseudosequel Remember11: The Age of Infinity is nearly as good, and has the most brilliant late plot twist ever, but a much weaker ending.

Do you think she really loved Fuminori then? I still think of it as part of her survival/reproduction strategy. A loving heart shall bind a willing slave, as they say*.

I was pretty symapthetic to Funimori. For someone living in hell he seemed to be coping pretty well, and anything he does under Saya's influence can't really be blamed on him because it's proven that she's manipulating him.

Also, "£$SLPFSJFSJF&(OTWSJ K$&SFKFOS)$?!!!"

*Not really. I make these things up on the spot in the off-chance that two hundred years in the future I'll become some kind of oft-quoted philisophical figure.

EDIT: Watched the intro. If you want to encourage me, bug-eyed singing teenage girls is not the way to do it.

RE-EDIT:
:

Meh, spoilers were never that big a deal for me. I call it the 'Romeo and Juliet Approach'. It's not about when you find out the ending, it's about how the ending comes to be.

So yeah, against your wishes I did exactly that, which confirmed my suspicions: I barely found the plot comprehensible in the synopsis, so I'd probably wouldn't be able to make head or tails of it in the game.

@ Dixy - What about the tackling for O or B (depending on your console), apparently you can basically just stick your leg out and they run around you.
Holding A doesn't make you 'home in' on an attacker anymore, you have to time it perfectly.

But yes, slide tackles are still as fun. People can get injured if your tackler is, say, six foot tall and is built like a deity.

EDIT: Watched the intro. If you want to encourage me, bug-eyed singing teenage girls is not the way to do it.
How you managed to miss all the interesting bits is beyond me, but at least expected. How you managed to get 'bug eyed singing teenage girls' from the opening is just weird.

So yeah, against your wishes I did exactly that, which confirmed my suspicions: I barely found the plot comprehensible in the synopsis, so I'd probably wouldn't be able to make head or tails of it in the game.
Because obviously a laconic synposis of an highly comples sci-fi plot is an accurate representation of the story spaced over thirty hours worth of narration.

But hey, I'm not Strike Witch and I don't play this game. If you don't want to be convinced them I'm not going to try.

Thank you. I appreciate it. There's a reason I'm not an anime fan and it's because I don't like anime.

EDIT: Wait, wouldn't a laconic synopsis be simpler than the real plot?

I sat down and started Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands last night. I think I’m a fair way into the plot now, and so far I’d say that the Sands of Time influence is definitely strong—gameplay’s much the same, but at a bit of a faster pace, which actually works quite well I think – makes you feel a bit more like an acrobat.

Not liking some of the “aha the floor fell out from under you, rewind!” bullshit the game likes to pull, but it’s thankfully not all that frequent and you get a decent amount of sand refills anyway.

So far the plot and setting just don’t wow me. Coming from the older games (which had some great atmosphere and eerie environments), it feels a little too generic and uninspired; enemy designs in particular feel kitschy, like they came form that other PoP game. Prince himself has his old charm, but without a companion character it feels a little understated.
