I'm curious to know what context "stark" means on that diagram too.

Yeah, it makes that story hard to read, gripping as it is. The world GRRM has created for SoI&F is incredibly harsh - And the crap that his characters go through makes you even sympathise with the bad guys. But that adds to its depth.

Gotta get round to ordering the 5th book now that it's finally out.

Back on topic, this nearly happened to me once, he was lucky to not get knocked off:

One of the reasons that I hate cycling on the roads is that some drivers treat you as if you don't exist - And this is a good example.
No offence, but professional cyclists like that have a tendency to be complete assholes as well. At least around here. It's not uncommon for them to just claim a piece of road they aren't even supposed to be, run red lights because they see a gap to go trough and thus scaring the shit out of the drivers, don't signal where they want to go and then have the nerve to flick you off when you almost hit them.

Professional cycling doesn't have any place what so ever in a busy city. Take that shit to the forest or a track.

Yeah - Someone dedicated a YouTube account to showcase footage of people who can't bloody cycle properly and give the normal cyclists a bad name, and there's a lot of footage.

That's no excuse for motorists to break the rules and treat us all in a bad way though - Then they become just as bad as the cyclists who don't follow road rules, and that often leads to people getting hurt or killed.

Cyclists have as much right to be on the roads as motorists do, so long as they follow the road rules - But bikes and cars don't mix. There ought to be a separate cycling infrastructure like they have in Holland, but nope, UK government is far too cheap for that.

Denmark has a separate infrastructure for cyclists and walkers too. It's quite wonderful. Like a quiet, peaceful break away from the noisy roads. The cyclist roads lead to all sorts of nice, nature-filled places too, and are used for just taking walks in the nature.
The biking roads are one of the few things I truly commend Denmark for.
Also the biking roads next to the car roads are usually proctected by the borders... like... the side-stone or whatever you'd call em and usually has a patch of grass in between. Its a clear mark between whats car road and whats not, thus making it more safe. It's not just some marking on the car road itself.
The only really dangerous places to bike, are at the intersections. Always makes me nervous.

Edit: Found this EPIC cosplay...

Really!? Fucking really?!

A show written AND starring Steven Segal? I'm guessing his character's going to be the badass whilst all the rest of the characters are kind of intentionally shit to try and make his character seem better.

Chuck Norris is a an exercise machine peddling old Conservative Gremlin. He calls Obama 'Obummer.' He sucks.

Walker, on the other hand, is the best character ever.

This Steven Segal show looks like TJ Hooker.

This company is developing a technology that replaces polygons with atoms, and are finding ways for computers to display those atoms without needing vast amounts of processing power. I'd love to see where this goes. Just think - No more polygons, no more shape restrictions and much, much higher detail graphics, and from a technological standpoint, that's pretty damned amazing. Too good to be true? I hope they can pull it off.
