spoiler: munch's moon

for those of u who have seen the good ending u know that munch has his own moon like abe. i thought that was a really kool touch. does this mean that all the heroes (like squeek) will have there own moons. it would be cool if they did.

yeah, but the only ODD part, is that Munch's moon appears after Munch is a saviour... Abe's moon had been there for a long time. To all who know where the following idea is from please tell me: Legend has it that the glukkons enslaved the mudokons out of pure jealousy. The glukkon religion was based on that oddworldian satellite, which, coincidentally, had a mudokon hand on it(3 fingers or 4, we may never know). This royally pissed the glucks off and sent them into the alchemy age. From there, time spent underground developing "alien" technology, the glukkons became fixated with this "human-type" culture and wished never to work on their own again. They now had bright eyes from the nocturnal life-style and showed importance by not using their arms. This ego-boost only strengthened when the sligs were there to be their bitches. with new weapons (bio/mechanical) made by the vykkers, the glukkons soon rose from the depths to reclame Oddworld and their "rightful" moon.

Huff, Puff! History is funny, aint it? well, i wonder why abes moon was there the whole time, but munch's wasnt, and how this will affect the glukkons.

I thought this was a really bad touch to the game I thought Abe and his fellow muds were special by having a moon all their on and they could do that thing where they put their hand up to telling themselfs there is always hope, now Munch has one of his foot, it looks so dumb and really ruined the whole special mud moon thing. I hate it!

I also don't think munch should have had his own moon. It kind of takes away from the story (I think). I liked how it was before where the hand could have just been a coincidence, but you really had a feeling that it was much more. Munch's moon just doesn't seem to fit to me. I do think that munch should have had something to represent him, but something different. Like having a lake shaped like his foot or something instead of another moon. You could understand why abe had never seen the moon before because he had been enslaved in rupture farms his whole life. But why wouldn't munch have seen his when he sticks his head out of the water? On the other hand, if it was a lake or something, they wouldn't have seen it until they fly over it in the airship at the end.

Hmm... that's an interesting idea. It would of mad more sense. Munch could of grown up with the Gabiwogs there. But there is nothing that can be done about it. 5 moons is fine.

Yeah, I guess you are right. Its not that big of a deal. That was pretty cool how the revealed it in the game. And, at least for me, it wasn't something I expected.

call me crazy but I thought it was Munch's face for a minute but realized that it was his foot. I idin't know it was gonna happen either, I loved the part when the fuzzls got the last laugh by blowing the ship up.

I was actually the opposite when I saw the ending FMV. I had read that all of the main characters/races of the Quintology would have their own moon. So when I saw Abe and Munch on the deck of the blimp with the Mudokon moon in the background (before Vykkers labs blew up), I was thinking "Where is Munch's Moon?".

It only makes sense that a planet the size of Oddworld (10 times the size of Earth) would have more than one moon. The larger planets of our solar system (Jupiter, Saturn, etc) all have multiple moons.

There is also nothing in the storyline that shows Munch has not seen this moon before. There is also nothing showing that he is only just realizing it now. It is more there for the viewer to realize that there is a moon too for the Gabbit species.

Abe Babe...

All too true, Abe Babe. Abe and Munch didn't look exactly "surprised" when it was revealed. They were obviously more interested in the destruction of Vykker's Labs. It must be a common site for them. But, I thought the way it was introduced was cool, also. ^_^

Why?How?Where does everyone get this info from?I don't understand.Ppl keep making assumptions like there will be 5 moons, one for each hero. It's strange.Even tho I don't disagree. However,I also do not agree because the ppl at Oddworld (creators) are specifically original,by now you'd think they'd think of something new.Bah.

Info here...

Yachiro, there are many places all around the Internet and plenty of other interesting places where people find Oddworld Info. You have to remember that a) Oddworld's been around for some time, and there's plenty of stuff that's been remembered from years back, and b) there's a lot of adoring fans who always seem to stumble across this stuff.

To satisfy your curiosity a bit at least, you could check out Paul O'Conner's Designer Diaries at Gamespot.

Incredibly,

So, maybe someone can tell me, does Munch's moon look the same as the Mudokon moon, other than the crater? If it's a different color and/or size, that would be cool, but, yeah, if they're identical besides the markings, that would be rather corny looking.

One interesting point of Abe's games is that they are told by the point of view of Abe. The big moon with Abe's paw in its face was a complete surprise for him. In fact, we have a little glimpse of that moon in stockyard, and in other screen we see it in detail, even before Abe noticed it. Why is that? Because Abe was a slave, hatched from and egg in the nursery of Rupture Farms. He probably hadn't ever seen the light of the day, and for that matter, the Oddworld sky, before scaping from Rupture Farms.

The other moons exist, that is a fact ( and I hope OWI keep it that way). We have to keep in mind that the Oddworld Quintology is a single story, an epic saga that will unfold the story of five heroes that will join together to change the course of Oddworld's fate. Knowing that, we can expect that Abe and Munch will be in the future three chapters of the quintology, and the other three heroes will have their own moons, their unique features, and their unique backstories.

But Oddworld Inhabitants is not restricted to the quintology universe. We can also expect that other games with completely separate plots from the quintology will be created (at least, that's my hope).

oh, definately, there'll be more. You can't have such a well developed and intriguing setting without expanding in all sorts of ways. Look at Star Wars- it's universe is not nearly a tenth as cool as Oddworld's, but compare the number of movies to the number of books, fan fics, graphic novels, etc. Artists that are really creative can truely warp their own brains to incorporate all of their ideas into a single story or setting. Read Xanth, or the Chronicles of Narnia, or look at any of the Dragonball stuff. Huge, Huge conglomerations of info, all of which could conceivably have been presented as seperate storylines that were unrelated, but instead the artists took an extra step and effort to connect them all. It's the next big trend in movies- look at all the trilogies we have coming out now- Star Wars Prequels, Lord of the Rings, The Matrix. The new generation is tired of the quick and simple crap we were getting in the early nineties, they want longer, more complicated stories, stuff that they can escape into. Artists that are creative and willing to work hard (Like Lorne and OWI) can ride this trend with great success.
