Happy The Creeper 2010?

Who wants to take part in Creeper for Christmas 2010? I'm willing to host it again if we get enough interest from people.

Let me know your ideas!

To jog people's memory. Here's the Halloween 2009 creeper edition;

"The Creeper
-----------
The factory has been producing tires and bike-belts for the past twelve years and has been making good profits. All of a sudden, the communications in and out of the factory stopped. Vans and Lorries waited outside the building but nobody was there to let them inside. The lights inside the factory were off so we can assume that the power has been knocked off somehow or else put on emergency standby. They have left their supplies nearby and have travelled back to the depot. One of the vehicles (a jeep) wouldn't start due to engine failure, so they have left it there. It may be possible to repair it somehow, with some of the tools located inside the building (Hint: Teamwork).

Inside the factory there are a wide array of items/devices that can be utilised. These include; Conveyor belts, Lights, Tazers, Cutting devices, Flashlights, Ice knives, Steel drums and the limited amount of medical supplies located on-site. Note: Any item that requires electricity must either have it's own battery pack or be powered by the mains electricity. An electrical device is good for about two or three uses before it fizzles out and requires a new battery pack or power source.

Fifteen individuals are assigned to inspect an industrialist factory. They comprise of a wide variety of job titles and roles such as Geologist or Security Officer. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and are of different species. They have only worked together once before, so nobody really knows anyone else. A strange noise has been heard inside and the individuals are awaiting orders."

I'm curious is everyone wants a similar thing or even a different thing.
I could make it more like Metal Gear Solid or maybe more like Predator. What do you think?

I liked the structure of the first one, and would be overjoyed to team up with Dore (MA) again. Since the first on was Hallowe'en and it was dark and full of things crawling in the dark, I suppose this time we should theme it around winter? Make the facility under a foot of snow, in a blizzard so cold it'll freeze anyone who steps outside... with monsters as well, of course.

Personally, I would like to see a Christmas sort of one, and with more suspense and less action. Perhaps it could act as a direct sequel to the first? The Creeper could have survived and be hot on the trails for revenge... The jeep could break down in a seemingly random fashion. Something could force the team away from the relative safety of the jeep and possibly scatter them into small groups.

This is no ordinary RPG. This is a fast paced adrenaline fest!
I'm thinking the idea of team vs team things might work.
Also I might take some inspiration from Call of Duty Zombie modes. (ie repairing barricades, waves of enemies, etc)

A city is too much of an open area. I suggest an abandoned lab or a more confined space.

I have an I idea building on from my previous one but it undermines all yours.

Why not a Rupture Farms Hunting outpost in the depths of Paramonia manned by slig and mudokon alike, they're used to fighting off the odd paramite and scrab but when a massive hoard run right passed them they realise something is up. Once night sets in they begin hearing low moans and shuffling noises before a mudokon zombie stumbles into view...It turns out the Paramonia is being tapped of its spirits like Necrum and the bodily hosts have risen from the dead to wreak havoc on those that woke them from their eternal slumber. The team from the outpost sets off evading the zombies down narrow causeways and up in mudokon mills with the overall goal of escaping by the feeco light rail.

Not bad, not bad. I like scrabtrapmans idea.

I also suggest a subway system or somthing of the like. The tunnels have no power and the only way to escape is to restore powere bit by bit. I got the idea when i was playing FEAR.

First things first, it should have The Creeper in it, otherwise it's not The Creeper. Second things second, you need a plot reason for why they are forced into contact with it. After the events of the first RPG, the characters won't be willing to investigate these happenings by choice. So I recommend the same structure as the first one, with the maps, timers, dicerolls and everything, but make an entire new plot and environment.

My idea of the plot was that a harsh Oddworldian winter struck while our little O*-team were travelling to their next assignment, so they were forced to shelter in a dilapidated old base (Think Amundsen–Scott research centre (Look it up!)). As the cold creeps in (Think The Day After Tomorrow), freezing all left outside, the characters are forced to abandon much of their equipment and run deep into the sprawling network of hallways. It's dark, it's cold, and things that look like tentacles are moving behind the air circulation vents...

For zombie fans, bear in mind that The Creeper does secrete dombifying goo. Read the first one if you don't believe me.

I never played the first one but upon reading it I will play this one. I like the snow idea better than my zombie idea too, it seems more natural.

The complex they run into should be a nuclear plant or something, with a big explosive thing in the bottom of it that threatens to blow everyone up.

I really like the idea of a subway station. I've read all the ideas and I'm starting to paint a picture in my mind of how this is all going to work out. We'll need between 7 and 15 people for this to work. I'd like to include a system like the 'perks' in Call Of Duty. If I'll be taking score for each zombie killed, I might add some purchasable weapons and items.

If the subway was split into two separate sections, we could have two groups and then do a team vs team points battle. The subways could meet up later on and the story would continue. I'm thinking of a warehouse which leads down to a subway, which would then lead into an abandoned lab (where all the trouble started).

I'm not sure about a direct continuation, since there are bound to be some people who dropped out of the last game. I'm not sure if anyone wants to keep their characters, but I have no problems with that.

I'd like to start on the 1st of December if everyone's happy. It'll run for about 14 days before leaving you all to enjoy Christmas in peace. Thanks for the input guys, hope you enjoy this year's game!

PS Should 'fears' be kept in? I'm not sure if they worked well last time.

Perhaps the subways where once used by feeco before they worked on steam pumped *air* trains like the ones you see running alone a line in Necrum story

I don't think we should be basing it off of the Nazi zombies points scheme if it's only going to be running for 14 days. I think we should just have a list of weapons and equipment that the players can choose from, and a specialty.(like medic, or engineer) We need to keep this simple like last year. The more complicated it gets, the more time it takes up trying to finish it. Just saying.

Yeah I think you're right, perhaps the points and barricades aspect is best saved for another time. I'd like to include a basic leveling and experience system. It helps give people something to aim for and will be useful in the future for using previous characters.

Here are the jobs, skills and fears for now;

=Job List=

Engineer - Assess the stability of ground/walls.
Consultant - Has a higher chance of assessing objects accurately.
Technician - Has a higher chance of closing doors or operating machinery correctly.
Weapons Expert - Has a higher chance of succeeding with a weapon or gun strike.

=Oddity List=

Quick Hands - Reload faster (allows you to fire twice in one turn).
Last Chance - If mortally wounded, you will sink to the floor and be able to knife any enemies. If not rescued in one turn the character will be unconcious and be out of the game.
Close Quarters Combat - Melee attacks do twice as much damage as normal.
Survival Instinct - Have one extra segment of health.

=Fear List=

Fear of heights - Certain rooms may contain a basement or upper floor, this shock can cause irrational fear, depending on the coin-flip.
Fear of noises - A character may hear a noise and be unable to move, depending on the coin-flip.
Fear of darkness - If the lights turn off at any point, the character may enter a paralyzed state, depending on the coin-flip.
Fear of monsters - If a scary monster appears, the character may enter a paralyzed state, depending on the coin-flip.
