Time for something disturbing:
Shady government agencies practice a type of torture that involves shaving someone's entire body, placing them in what is essentially a very accommodating body condom, and then putting them into a large tank of water for however long. They are supplied air but are in complete darkness. It is supposedly one of the more horrific psychological experiences.

Now, is it just me, or does being submerged in fluid inside of a horrible vinyl sack seem suspiciously similar to...say, being eaten?

Fucking definitely, I feel these 'fetishes' are hardly legitimate sexual desires, rather they are subcultures people choose to adhere to simply because they exist. I'm sure the thoughts of whacking off to being eaten didn't come first.

I feel the same way about 90% of all 'sexual' subcultures. nature v nurture etc. that being said, some can be manifestations of mental illness (i hate to say 'illness', or irregularity.. maybe mental pecularities or something, ya dig?)

Maybe when you're a fetus and need gestating. You're weak and need the protection. But as you get older your freedom becomes more and more valueable to you, leading to many people feeling trapped in their lives. That feeling of 'no way out'; that you'll be going insane staring at the surface in front of you until you are relieved by death is part of what claustrophbia is about, and the idea of going into a tiny, squishy space that shrinks in around you while you struggle in clinging fluid is something like claustrophobic x 1000.

Also, it just occurred to me that we have a thread for phobias and a thread for philias.
