The Moon with the Gabbit Foot?

Just curious of your opinions on why they added another moon with a mark on it. Any ideas on why they did it, and whether or not you think it's a good idea? I personally believe that every new character that is introduced into the Quintology will, at the end of their respective games, get their own moon. However, I don't think it's a good idea- they should've just stuck to Abe's moon.

At the end of the quintology, there will be 5 printed moons; one for each hero.

Abe shouldn't be the only one with a moon as he's only the first hero in our hearts. The other heroes are equally, if not more, important in the scheme of things.

Stranger is not part of the Deus ex Machina that is controlling the events around the five heroes of the quintology.

Each hero should get their own moon. The whole moon thing might end up being a part of this "Oddworld won't end well" thing. Imagine Majora's Mask, but five moons crashing down instead. Aw yeah...

The thing about Munch's Moon is that it's just there suddenly. Abe's Moon has a backstory, Abe responds to it when he sees it for the first time, and the Mudokons apparently use it as some unifying symbol (see the good ending to Abe's Exoddus). Munch's Moon... if they even notice it they don't bat an eyelid.

I did like the way it was presented to the audience though; slowly being revealed behind the falling Vykker's Labs. I can still remember the hairs on the back of my neck standing up at that moment.

I figured that the symbolism of the Gabbit moon would come out more in ME.

Max's point there is the most important one- the Mudokons' moon is a very, very important thing in several ways- it inspires Abe to become the mudokons' saviour, and further back, it is the reason for the Glukkons to hate the Mudokons, etc, etc. Whereas suddenly, at the end of MO, a massive white thing twice the size of the first appears in the sky, and nobody's noticed it up until now???

To be honest who really cares it means something to munch and it is what the company wanted to show that it's not just Abe that has a sign to believe in!

That's exactly the thing: We don't know it means anything to Munch. He never reacts to it.

In all likelihood of course it means something to him, and the Mudokons will definitely take it as a sign of Munch's hero-ness, but we never got the chance to explore these things.

How is it pushing Abe out of the way when he still has his? There are five heroes in the Quintology, and one moon for each. Perfectly fair.

I haven't played MO in quite a few years, but I remember Abe and Munch bumping knuckles when his moon appears. I always figured it was because of that and not the destruction of vykkers labs

no seriously, its a bit... going out of the way to do somthing pointless innit? nevermind, and i like the storyline about oddworld not having a good ending, its so... proffesional. but it will probably be sad.

I thought Munch's moon was very tacked on. The way they revealed it was kind of clever, I guess. But it seemed to me like they had already made the entire game and remembered somewhere near the end of production "Oh shi-- THE MOON!".

I suppose if they had played up that Munch didn't really feel accepted or useful throughout the adventure, and then seeing the moon would invalidate his feelings of inadequacy (both to himself and those who doubted him). The way the two behaved towards each other early on, I felt as if they kind of resented each other, and that Munch may have felt disliked/untrusted by Abe and his brethren.
This seems even more likely when you see how awkward it is for Abe in the good ending to speak kindly to Munch. Munch tells him he's "done good", and it looks like Abe just had no idea how to take praise from him. Dunno. I just got the distinct impression that there was an intent to put some tension between them and we never really saw it.

There was. Originally Abe and Munch were meant to start out resenting each other. Munch hates Abe because, having a broken leg and being wheelchair-bound, Abe just pushes him about for his own ends without really considering what Munch wants. I forget why Abe hates Munch. Something to do with ruining his attempt to rescue Sam?

So it was a plot point that was intended but never explored because of the story changes. Hm.
