A Paramite's tale
Chapter 1
Xar had nothing in mind that evening except for a relaxing sleep in a shady tree. As far as paramites go, he had had a good day. He was alive, uninjured, and had eaten good today. By a stroke of luck he had come across a nest of fuzzles, where he feasted ravishly. How they had squeaked! He had then washed it all down with gulps of cold water from a nearby stream, standing as far into the water as he could without being swept away (he liked how the water felt on his legs).
Now, after a tiring day, he was searching for a nice cool, shady tree to spend the night in when he smelled meat. Though his stomach was entirely satisfied, he followed the scent. He thought perhaps he might drag it back to his tree and eat it in the morning. After all, one doesn't just let food go to waste here. Xar had gone days without eating before, so any chance for food, he took.
He followed the scent through the forest until at last he reached the source. As the smell of the meat was dead, he didn't figure on fighting or chasing prey. He had approached the meat and fastened his jaws on it when he heard a "Clash!!!" behind him. Immediately he dropped the meat and whirled around only to smash into a wall of solid metal. Every other way he was trapped behind walls of metal too, he tried to dig out but the the floor was as unyielding as the walls. The only light he could sense came from above, and that was marred with slots of darkness so he couldn't escape that way either. He figured he was in some kind of cage. He mentally cursed his stupidity, alloud he said "HIIIISSSSSSSSSSIIIISSHHHHH HIIIISHHHHSH HISSSSSS hisssssss!!!" which in paramite language means "What is thissss!!!???? Let me out now!!!! Who are youssss!!!????
Then Xar heard a raspy metallic sounding voice speak, "Hehe good catch, this ones nice and fat, e'll make a good pie, no?"
Another raspy voice responded "yup, the boss will be pleased with today's catch. Pickings have been slimmer lately but we sure got a haul today"
The other speaker responded, "What do you say we head back now? I don't mind setting traps for paramites in the daytime, but I don't want to be here in the darkness where you can't see them, else were liable to be a late night snack."
His companion said "gotcha, lets get outta here."
Xar of course understood none of this any more then the sligs understood his hissing. His cage was suddenly picked up with a jolt and he felt himself being carried along. After spending some time hissing, shrieking and throwing himself at the walls he settled down. He would wait, as that was all he could do.
Somehow he managed to drift off to sleep despite the shaking and jolting...
