My 3D projects

I know we have been seeing theses a lot lately, but here it is anyway.

I have finally learned some basic 3d modeling. To practice, i'm making a 3d Slig worker class slig. I am most likely going to rig and animated it as well. I'll do some touch up when i actually finish the model, till then it's going to look a little... odd.(no pun intended)

What program are you using?

A worker class Slig isn't a good model to start with, I'm still working my way up to it and I've been doing 3D for a few years now. Better to start with something simpler or man-made, I'd go for a Snoozer but thats just me .

For this model, Sligs are symmetrical so you only have to model one side then flip it over, which'll save you a lot of time. It's kinda hard to tell from the pic but it looks like there's only 4 tentacles and there should be 5 arranged in an inverted V shape.

Sorry if that sounds negative, it really is just that the worker Slig's not a good one to start with .

I'm using Blender.

Yea, i know it's not most people's first choice, but i thought i would it least take a shot at it. I'm going to redo the tentacles anyway. As for the pants, I'm going to gold off on that part until i get familiar with the tools a bit more, so it's going to end up a pants-less slig.

Edit: Also, no worries about it sounding negative. I know you're just trying give some good advice.

Thats True. It's hard to fit model to reference images, because on front projection view most body is overlappingon itself.

But on beggining of using 3D apps you don't need to be maximum precise

Good luck

Are you thinking about a 3D game?

@crashpunk

It is too early for him. For creating game he would had to learn moddeling, animating, texturing, programming and some other stuff.

Now he should just train modeling in blender (and watching some tuts on web), and then start looking for a modding group to join. There he could learn a bit more things important in development game projects

Cyph3r's looked pretty dang good. A few of the others didn't look half bad.

I have watched alot of tutorials already. Most of them covered the basics of the blender engine along with it's included game engine. I animated and textured a cube and got it to move with the four arrow keys, then got it to jump with the space bar. So I'm not going totally blind into this, i know enough of the basics to make it pretty decent.(The model anyway)
