My Best Fan Game Yet!<DEMO>



Hey guys. This is definetly the best fan game i've made. Other ones were just overhead ones, which the story would lose track half way through, and none of the screens had anything new on, but now... i changed it

The game is in a platformer format, and has darkness... Loads of stuff happens in each room, and its not just mindless killing, it has silent parts. (Note I havn't added the action yet!

Alright, so basically you switch between perspectives between a period of time, you will change to a sligs perspective, to abe's perspective, so basically you are fighting for both teams in a manner.

The glukkons are dead, not to be found, so the sligs are absolutely lost and have no idea what to do.

Looks good, the only qualm I have is the inconsistency between sprites and backgrounds that are real. Besides that it's good fun to toy with.

EDIT: Ok I played it and it's quite glitchy, also Sligs can't jump with the pants we know and love And how come they cant die with being shot by their own guns? Oh yeh and also my shotgun only fires in one direction, backwards ;?

Verdict:

Story Line: 8/10

Shotgun follows your mouse, and sligs can't be shot by their own bullets because they have armour that deflects them (Imaginatation)

What do you mean? The other guy who follows you has fail jumps? I know :P

Even for a 14 year old, you could do a lot better. Pick up photoshop and flash, learn how to use them. I guarantee, it will look alot more professional if you do.

I side with Mr. Odd overall, you nee to do a lot of work on the backgrounds you have made which are bland and a bit monotonous.

I'm sorry, Luke, but I don't have the time to play your game tonight. I am, however, very impressed, if just for the fact that you have submitted the first fan-game thread I have seen in a long time to actually offer content rather than just ideas and promises. For that; +rep.

From the screenshots I can agree with STM that graphical consistency is not particularly satisfactory. This is easily improved with or without aid and without tampering with your game engine (of which I will play your game to evaluate).

Overall I'm just glad to see you have something to show. I look forward to future production and wish you luck with your project.

Movement was good for the most part though I had trouble with it on the second Abe section. I didn't finish due to a fatal Abe collision error.

So yeah, good start, my recommendations for the next release are to use smaller tiles for the environment so they match the scale of the characters and maybe have less dialogue as it doesn't really suit this game type.

Nice work overall.

After a quick play I'm sorry to say that there is a vast amount of room for improvement. For a start, there was no tutorial element to tell me how to play. Among other things; the physics engine was buggy, the death sound didn't stop when I hit 'r' (for restart?), and water disappears when I drown...

Also, I figured it was common knowledge by now but Grieva's post made me think otherwise and credit should be given regardless of renown; you did not make those sprites, and the author (Arxryl, wasn't it?) deserves a mention.

Nevertheless, I'm sure with this room for improvement you have a willingness to improve and I still look forward to seeing you progress.

Yes, its quite buggy because i have like an hour a day to work on it, making me lose track on what i was fixing... which is frustrating.

and..

That's very parculiar because im sure i remember putting Arxryl in the post..

I played it and my first though was...hmmm original, but as I progressed I noticed how buggy/sticky the controls were and how that made the game unbearable. The graphics were not exactly great either.

But in saying all this you are fourteen and I know how hard it is to make a platformer game so the only thing that can happen is that you improve at what you do.
