What video games other than Munch's Oddysee are you most looking forward to?

1. Metal Gear Solid 2 -- I have the demo. The demo alone is better and has more replay value than most full-length games out now. Hell, I've only beaten it three times, but I've played it countless times! I just like messing around with stuff.

2. Devil May Cry -- Come see what I'm talking about... (BTW, if you don't see these, you're crazy.)

ONE
TWO
THREE
FOUR

That's a tough one. I think there will be some fantastic games, but a lot of mediocre ones riding on new technology.

Commandos 2
Alone in the Dark 4
Half-Life: Blue Shift

Hmmm...that's a lot less than I expected. All the Xbox games aside from MO sort of seem to be along the lines of 'world so big you won't know what to do' concept, which has never interested me (like all Rare games, for this reason). A lot of these great-looking games are also let down by horrible animation - especially Halo - which sort of destroys the realism that graphics try to achieve.

That's my rant. If you want an unreal game now, buy Sacrifice - it looks, plays and sounds better than most games you'll see during the next year.

OK you want a list, than take a look at this one. No speculation here, proof positive and all facts have been approved by you're bud the Shark.

Sacrifice is nice, but that was last gen gaming. I can say with all honesty and from already playtesting these titles that at least 40 if not more are all around better than Sacrifice. With time you too shall be amazed at how great gaming is about to become.

I'm not one to hype or follow the crowd, believe me I am just the opposite, but these up-coming games are really all that. Halo animation is done with top animation tools and will run with as many frames per second as needed or possible.Just check the new E3 video real soon, animation is cool, and don't forget they add frames at the end. That will be the last of any problems with the power of XBOX.

No one can deny what's coming, and if they do they are in store for a whopper of a dose of reality. 1 week to E3, get your reality caps on, because you're about to get a taste of the real future of gaming.Yes Sacrifice was nice in Fall of 2000, but I'm talking near future now.

Sometimes people like to talk without much proof or facts, no actual in-game experience, that's a pity, just let the games do the talking ,if you don't like them then talk negative, not before any actual in-game experience.

These games are going to rock, face it and go get all the systems, you're just fooling yourself if you try to make yourself believe that the're not going to be all that just because you can't afford them, if that is the case.

Now here's a list with real ass-kicking to it: Taken from my E3 up-coming post.

Here you go,the Shark's up-coming wishlist of next gen games. Now keep in mind I have seen all these games in action and or play-tested,I have seen test run video's of various portions of games not shown to the public. I know of the individual game engines behind these games,a very important fact often overlooked, so I know of the possible potential beyond what is already being shown. As well as the developers individual talents, more crucial than anything in the games outcome.
Now remember these are STEEL SHARK'S most wanted,I know there will be some all of you care for at the moment that will not appear on my list, however you never know they may pop up on it soon once I get a closer look at them. But I must tell you I have a very good idea already of what's coming.

Another note,I dig ACTION/ADV,I love to explore and fight, along with a strong element of stealth in my games, and to solve puzzles while I'm at it, I dig the depth of these games.

One more note,I can say with out a doubt about 30 of these titles will be as good or better than any game we have "EVER" played. These games are by far superior in all aspects. Graphics, sound capabilities, level design, and most importantly and over-looked the artificial intelligence. And remember I have not picked this list blindly, these games have had good looks by you're game buddy the Shark.

TOP OF THE LIST

(not in order)

1. MO, (What else) XBOX
2. Heavens Beast XBOX
3. Saffire Gamecube
4. Herdy Gerdy PSX2
5. Secret project 1 Gamecube E3 unveiling
6. Too Human Gamecube

19.Icco PSX2
20.Shrek XBOX
21.Galleon Gamecube
22.New legends XBOX
23.Tombraider (nextgen)P.C.
24.Metroid Gamecube
25.Zelda next gen Gamecube
26.FFX PSX2
27.1906 artic XBOX
28.Azurik XBOX
29.Dino Planet Gamecube
30.Run like Hell PSX2

Honorable mention

Now many of these games could pop up on the "A" list above, we shall see.

Enclave XBOX
Europa P.C.
Titanium angels P.C.
Battle of the planets XBOX
Panzer Dragoon X XBOX
Devil may cry PSX2
Duke nukem P.C.

Obi wan XBOX
Rayman M XBOX
The thing XBOX
Jurrasic Park X XBOX
Catburglar PSX2
Draken 2 PSX2
Project Eden P.C.
Evil Twin P.C.
Alone in the dark 4 P.C.
Resident Evil 0 Gamecube
Rare's many up-comers Gamecube
Metal GearX ( Could be near top of list if done correct, and made exclusive for XBOX version, we shall know at E3.)

Some extra games to think of other than 3D act/ADV are:

Mario cart Gamecube
1080 snowboarding Gamecube
Waverace Gamecube
Project Gotham XBOX
GT3 PSX2
Jetpackers XBOX

Well there you have it, my list, you can say that 30 of the games will be top 35 games of all time, they are that good. The true next gen of games are finally upon us.

I will get up and personal with these games at E3, I have behind closed door looks with many of them. More details later.

I noticed that XBOX led the way with 12 top picks on my top 30 list. With Gamecube getting 11.PSX2 got 5, and P.C. only 2. PC gaming in my book is getting hurt by the new power of consoles, but will never die, they just get more powerful as time goes, they will be back with some punch.

I think they're using Maya, but that doesn't deny the fact that so far, Halo's animation is terriible. Look at the E3 video and the shots where the troops run down a hallway (while the voiceover's talking about a whole lot of unlocked doors) and the movements are worse than an episode of Thunderbirds. And again, when the marine is shot and falls from his ledge, his body remains static.

Sure, this wasn't the final version, but the movements with Hitman's IK implementation are better than this - and that's been around for a few months.

It doesn't matter how much somebody has playtested a game, or memorised ambiguous hype from Gamespot and IGN, we don't know how good these games are until they've been released and they've been played properly.

Despite the fact that there's a lot of great advances in graphics technology, I'd like you to name one non-MO revolutionary gaming development. I don't class being able to run for half an hour across a huge map (where's the fun in that?) as particularly radical - Rare have done that to death and it still isn't interesting.

I can't believe I never responded to this topic... I must have missed it or something!!!

Of course Munch's Oddysee is the game I am most looking forward to... but as it's "games other than Munch's Oddysee"... then it's none other than

Final Fantasy X

Well duh... cause I'm a really big Final Fantasy Fan!!! And it looks totally awesome... it's like with each FF game the graphics get better (well obviously as with any game and especially w/ the move to the PS2)... and from the movies there's more places to go and explore than before!!!

I'd also like to play the Heaven's Beast game that Steel Shark got me interested in, Halo, Matrix and the Diablo II Expansion pack (out REAL soon). And others that I've missed or forgotten or otherwise!

Abe Babe...

Can I just ask something? What game does the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo come with?

MGS2 is the game I'm most looking forward to, and any other upcoming games in the Resident Evil series.

Cool topic Daniel Brown.

Well there are hundreds of games in the pipeline. I've mentioned my top 60 or so above in a previous response a few months ago.But since this cool topic has been brought back to life allow me to update my hot picks.

Here's my list for the next six months, that's now through Feb 2002.

In no particular order:

ICO
Devil may cry
Shadowman (second coming)
Draken 2
Evil twin
Run like hell
Metal gear 2
Herdy gerdy
FFX
Jax and Daxter
Maximo

Those are some top PS2 picks as of now, as of now being the key to that sentence.

Gamecube games are not exciting me at the moment as they should, hopefully Spaceworld will change that tune for me.With Mario possibly still having a chance in a next gen form.1 week till Spaceworld,we shall see soon enough what ace Nintendo has up it's sleeve if any at that time.

XBOX:list below, just the top ones for the moment.

MO
Halo
Malice
Shrek
Azurik
Medal of honor
Morrowind
Piccasio
Galleon
Mythos
Project gotham
DOA 3
The unholy
Kakuto X

Beyond these 6 or 7 months I believe XBOX and Gamecube will really begin to shine with these games:

XBOX: Project Ego
Kleaners
Heavens beast
24 automatons
Matrix
Enclave
The breed
Panzer dragoon
Orchid
Xavier Fox(Game of year ??)
Blade 2
Terminal reality(secret project)
Call of the dragonfly

Gamecube: Zelda
Too human
Mario carts
Thornado
Mario( if not this Fall)

I believe that even with a higher quality of games this Fall and winter coming that next Spring and summer along with next Fall 2002 games will make an even bigger leap.

Well that's about 43 games for the next 18 months or so. For the time being those are my personal hot picks, don't forget I'm an action/adventure platformer lover.

What about Pikmin and Super Smash Melee!? Are you a crazy person!?

ANd Sydney, now that you have a ps2, you can get the MGS2 demo with Zone of the Enders, which is a pretty cool game itself, but only worth the $50 purchase because it comes with MGS2 demo. And believe me, it's worth it. But you can probably find the demo just itself for cheaper on eBay.

Hey Daniel. I actually went out and bought Zone of the Enders after finding it out elsewhere on the web, so I could play the MGS demo. Man that demo is awesome! The demo alone has hours worth of replay value, I can't wait until the full version comes out. I don't mind paying up, since ZOE is an alright game.

I want to get SSX Snowboarding for it too, I played the demo and it kicks the proverbial ass.

Pikman and Supersmash bros are alright, just not on my top list of games, too many games ,too little time. Pikman is just a bit off for this westerner, it's more for the Japanese mentality,at least in my opinion,I tried it at E3 behind closed doors and was not overwhelmed. However it could still be a hit on everyone else's lists. As for Supersmash bros, well lets just say when playing a fighter I'd much rather play DOA 3 or Kakuto -X, on the XBOX,or Tekken 4 on the PS2.

I've just received a playable level of ICO for the PS2, I'll get back to you all, whoever is interested that is on my experience of the game. What I have already playtested in another demo earlier was very exciting and gave out a real aura of depth and was very unigue.
