A TRIBUTE FOR THE TRAGIC US INCIDENT

THE FATAL LOSS OF THOUSANDS OF LIVES IN THE PLANE TERRORISM HAS LED ME TO TEARS. THE SIGHT OF SEING THE PLANES BOMBARDED TO THE TWIN TOWERS IS SHOCKING.
I THINK WE SHOULD HAVE AN ACT OF SILENCE IN THE FORUMS AS A TRIBUTE FOR THE US AS WE PRAY, PRAY, PRAY TO GOD THAT WE CAN FIND MORE SURVIVORS AND ACT HARSHLY NOT ON THE RACE BUT ON THE PEOPLE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH A HASTE CRIME.

PEOPLE WITH ME, I THINK THAT THE FORUMS SHOULD BE CLOSED FOR A WEEK OR SO. ALL THE OTHER FORUMS THAT I AM CURRENTLY SIGNED INTO HAS DONE THIS. I WISH THAT ODDWORLDIAN FORUMS WILL TOO JOIN IN.

By the way, why do you write almost everything in CAPSLOCK?

dont be mean to freaky, he means well and i see his point.

we all feel extreme sorrow for what happened, and being in america (minnesota thank goodness) ive been bombarded with this news time and time again.

a silence for more than a few days would not help the incident, but hurt the forums. several people use this place as an outlet for feelings and a safe haven where they can be accepted for thier love of oddworld (which i assure you, is not a commen trait in many towns)...i think the best thing we can do is talk about how its affected us. atleast that will help us get it off our backs.

p.s.- i give my deepest conserns to those of ya'll who have relatives or friends who were in the middle of this trajic shtuff or if you were...

I myself, like many others have been strongly affected by this incident, and do agree that there should be tributes and respect paid.

Although I really don't think closing the forums is the way to do it (I personally have not seen other forums close that I visit). In this time, people need to reflect and talk about what is happening. Where as maybe it's not a time to talk about other subjects too much, it is good to contribute to such a topic like this and the main one and talk about your feelings and what has happened.

Although Sydney is not here to discuss this with (he has gone away for a few days), I belive myself that the forums should remain open so members can post their reflections of what has happened and use it as a place to talk to others in this time where we all feel great sadness and emotions.

An idea I was thinking of as a tribute would be to perhaps create artwork or images (I know some people have already done this in the other topic, and I think although it is not much, it at least is a tribute).

The last two days was silence for me. I'm mad about the dumb Palestinas...and sad about the victims in the USA. I'm still waiting for our Pinky, and i hope that she'll come online soon...it doesn't matter whether is it a minute or second...i just want to see her name on my buddylist to see that she's okay!
I want to see her friend on the buddylist to ask her about Pinky (she dislike germans, but who cares!).

It would be so terrible if Pinky won't write to this forums again, reply my e-mail or go online generally...

And freakyLA, the first post on this topic was stupid! We should think about the victims of the USA. And i want to see the news on the TV, because i want to know how many are alive and saved! This incident is hard to forget and hard to understand.

I have actually been thinking about this again. I'm considering closing the forums for one day on Tuesday (US date) which will be a week since the incident. The closure would be for 24 hours (a week is a little too long, but I think a day is appropriate), likely from 9am NY time (time of the incident) to 9am the next day. For that day, the forums would have a tribute image and message on the entry page.

What does everyone think? I think that we should do something. Please let me know your comments. As Sydney is not around I have to make this decision myself, which is a hard one, as I am torn between the emotion and sadness that I and most people feel from this incident and also what members will think. Rather than just discussing this with the other moderators, I will ask everyone.

I also miss Pinky, i haven't seen her lately! That's so terrible. I watched the news about 4 hours today, want to know how many people alived! I hope that Pinky is okay!!! Maybe she went to an other town for the next weeks or is on the hospital, but i hope she's not dead! That would be so sad and terrible!

And freaky, i know that they showed us a lot of news and repeat the most things again and again...and i know that you don't like to see it so much, it's terrible to see the aeroplanes crashing the WTC!

As much as it is a noble idea, might I suggest we do something a little less extreme? Can we make a compromise and have an hour or two of silence (the forums will be closed) on Oddworld Forums in honour of the dead, and perhaps for a week thereafter have a small announcement at the top of the forums?

I only just returned home from Queensland this afternoon and I'm browsing over all the posts that were made in my absense.

Abe Babe, If you really want to close the forums for a whole twenty-four hours, then feel free. You seem really passionate about it and I'd be happy to have Oddworld Forums closed for a day if that's what you feel will be the best thing to do.

sorry but i thought it would be the right thing to do, you see my father and 6 of his freinds has travelled up to the US to help out with things. MY AUNTY WAS KILLED IN THE TWIN TOWERS!. I doubt that pinky is dead and people who do think that should be ashamed, saying that someone is dead because they dont reply is a bit rude. She lives in america i know that but how can you be sure she was in the twin towers at the time of the accident? Or better yet how do you know she went to the twin towers? Or better yet how do you know if she lives in new york?
It's not good to keep a negative attitude towards something like this. I still give hope to those still in the rubble and hope even one person will come out alive.

Now that Sydney is back, I'll discuss this with him off the forums or in Employee Lounge. I'd still like to do something, but lack of response and the like we may go along with Sydney's ideas or something like that.

Regarding Pinkhaired, we are all worried about her. But before people start saying that she is dead, consider that she may be helping with the tragedy, or just emotionally affected by it (more so than the rest of us, being so close to her home) and cannot bring herself to come onto the internet just yet. Of course she is in our thoughts, but just imagine what she may feel if she comes on here and reads people thinking she has died. I wouldn't think it would be a very good feeling. Remain positive and wish her the best.
