Oddworld fan game [beta small demo]

Hi,

This game is in its alpha stage, dont expect a full game [The reason why its not uploaded to instant play because its no where near finished]

it reassembles Munch's Oddysee more than the other ones did, it also reassembles the Hand of Odd

Now about the actual game. I hope I'm not destroying everything you've worked for, but I refuse to download this. It's relatively obvious you made it with Gamemaker, and I see no reason for not just uploading it to Yoyogames, where we can play using instant play. If this requirement is filled, I will give it a try.

I believe you have potential. You clearly know how to work the programming side of Game Maker and with work to the graphical side of your game you could have something respectable.

Don't let these two crush your spirit, everyone starts somewhere. Keep going, if anything else your game is game-making experience for you.

I didn't think I had respect from you in the first place Carnix. I thought I lost it somewhere down the road. Out of curiosity, why so sarcastic and modly (At a loss for a better word)? That's perhaps the most threatening statement I've posted in my time on this forum. I actually recall you saying, without contributing anything else, that you would personally neg-rep people who posted one word posts.

Can I have a reason for why it isn't on Yoyogames? From the looks of the video, it seems like it might very well be worth a shot, but I'm the lazier kind of person who doesn't want to download something without knowing with general certainty that it's worth it. I don't mind using instantplay though.

Besides, making a game instantplay only takes the creator that much longer to upload (I know from personal expirience) and is a lot faster than downloading the whole thing.

I apologize if anybody read my above post as hostile, mean, overly critical, evil, flamming or something along those lines. I didn't mean to come across as that.

Officially this is only acceptable if your thread has dropped off the bottom and is no longer on the first page. But nevertheless there is a Fan Coner specific rule that defends your right to do this.

You should try GIMP or GIMPshop rather than paint, or photoshop if you can get your hands on it
It's a good start, I'd like to see some animation when Abe moves and a firm choice of perspective, this looks like its top down but the trees are more side on.

Personally I'd prefere the areas to be a little bit smaller or all scrolling and 8 directions of movement, but thats just me being impatient and wanting to get from A to B quicker, and I don't think Abe should use a gun, but if you called it a SpooceBow I'd be fine with it lol

It's alright Luke.. well it's a start. But I suggest you debug it a bit, cuz I keep getting fatal errors that crash the game. And some things arent solid, like a few walls and the huge table. But you've definately got the starting point of the game, so I suppose you should just keep developing it patiently. It's got potential, but so far it's extremely buggy for me. Can I suggest using Construct? It's a similar program to GM, and free.
