Lorne once said it wasn't set in our universe, so I doubt we are able to pinpoint it's location in space.

Well Tuvok, I’ve been looking very carefully at the stars we see in the Stockyards, and I have worked out that Oddworld is actually the middle ‘star’ of Orion’s belt!

No. I actually can extrapolate any point in the universe based on a starscape.

But I have to use my fingers and toes to do the maths.

Bitch.

Wouldn't finding a Sun with relative size to how big Oddworld is compared to Earth make this piss easy? Christ, people.

What, you think that there's going to be only one star of the approximate size out of the trillions observable from earth?

It would be funny if you grabbed things with your toes and walked with your fingers.

What? Oddworld's sun is clearly a G2V, just like ours. There is no need at all to scale up the size of the star, or even the planet's orbit, with its size. Besides, regardless of whether we're talking about ten solar masses or ten solar radii, we would see a completely different sun from the barren surface of a dead Oddworld.

And like Nate said, it wouldn't stand out anyway, not in a galaxy or universe with stars of these sizes:

That always puzzled me. Wouldn't the gravity of a planet that size make conditions for intellegent life incredibly hostile?

Not really. It's all they've ever known. They would be built for living on a planet with such heavy gravity. Mudokons may be weak on Oddworld, but if one ever made it to Earth you wouldn't want to get in a fight with one.

Or in a high jump contest with a Fuzzle.

Doesn't gravity increase as the planet gets smaller, not bigger? I'm not sure but I believe a planet 10 times bigger then earth would have less of a gravitational pull then earth.

A planet of higher mass has stronger gravity. It is it's weight pulling at the universe.

Measurements on oddworld may be far different, 5'8" there could be like 6 Earth inches for all we know...

But this information comes from the same source that tells us Oddworld is ten times the size of Earth, meaning they're using our measurements, not Oddworld's.

Except that the planet may be the same size whilst the creatures are ten times smaller; thus the effect is the same* whilst also explaining some of the macro-fauna and incredibly large vegetation.

* The point being that information and technology spreads ten times slower than on planet Earth.
