I think I posted this before in the thread but here you go. This is the time when I didn't have a registered version of HyperCam and the quality sucks a bit, I might re-record another later. I don't know how to edit certain sounds just replace and switch files.

I did say I couldn't do it. I said I could swap the sounds from one level to another, with the results being that all the sounds are messed up.

Unless you find a way to change an individual sound into another one there is no way of editing the sounds and probably wont be for a very long time.

Try renaming the two files to each other.

Eg rename A.lvl to B.lvl and B.lvl to A.lvl
Or something similar.

There is no way to edit the individual beats of sound as of now, unless you talk to Paul or someone because apparently he found a way to change beats around.

All my video demonstrates is really screwed up paths leading to really screwed up sounds.

cool! but amm... i don't know any thing about editing lvl. files! it is really hard i remember that i hacke one game by the "notepad" it was "bejeweld twist"! i guess!
anyway could u teach us about this and plese do some lvl editor 4 abe's exoddus

this information is only partly correct, because after ABEEL.PAL there is more 2048bytes of null padding..

After messing about with ABEBLOW.BAN I managed to make the "meat explosion" of abe/muds no longer display..

In short im trying to read/parse .lvl files in the hope of creating some basic level editor

can u plese tell me how to edit these "cam." and "ban." files and. thank u!

Stop double posting, you may be new but thats not an excuse for ignorance. Double posting is classed as spam here and you will end up with a refraction if you continue.

Paul hasn't been here for a while like I said and mabey only one or two members here will be able to help you out. Please, post and wait for a reply. If you need to edit your post look for the button under the post you wish to modify.

If no one answers then contact administration or a modorator. Xaviar knows a fair bit about this I think.

If you need help on using the CAM tools or whatever, it requires use of the cmd.exe and even then it's long and tedious. It can be quite good though, like when you see the end result...i've probably posted this before but no one quoted it so:

actualy i know how to edit the backgorunds! but the problem is i can't add it in the game just lik u did!
by the way does anybody find out how to edit the sprites (ban files)?

Hey people i am using the cam tools and the level extractor and for some reason when i try to build a .lvl it wont let me and the cmd command prompt would say:

Searching for files in directory r1
Error collecting files
Found 0 files

Preparing files
prepared files

writing files
wrote files -done

what am i doing wrong? please help people!!!!

Nope.

I don't think you can actualy make levels with Pauls program, only read and edit sprites and sounds but I'm not sure, have a look through this thread for more information.

i don't think u can "build" a level i think u can just edit the sprites and the backgrounds and replace them with any level!

is that right?!

edit: how can i edit the sprite or extract the sprites? and edit backgrounds and stuff and then add them to the game ?
