Modding Abe

I've been a fan of the oddworld games for as long as i remember and now i have some time on my hands i am going to mod the original two games. Creating more levels and perhaps a few more creatures.
If you want i can post my progress here with previews for you.

-Edit- Another thought, instead of just adding extra bits to the games i could set it as a 3rd game, maybe set before the first abe.

Yes, please, I'd like to see some previews, and perhaps an insight on how you did this? It'd be a first and would be great to see some Oddworld modding going on!

Can you try and make a basic recreation of SligStorm?
Just make sure you put in a lot of lifts and teleporters, Sligs cant jump

Try and make one of those 'getcha wings' access points as well, that would be awesome.

Before i do anything i need a storyline, plots and other assorted ideas.
This is where i need some help: If anyone has something they want to see yell it out.
One idea i have is a prequel to A.O. Set when the gluckons first invade the sacred land. It would be a great set up for the opening cinematic.
Your main objective is to escape capture and aid your brethren. However there are a few twists. As a prequel it has to end with abe in rupture farms, so at the end of the game abe recieves a choice, give the Mudokons he saved into slavery and go free or beome a slave himself. This also can give the game a new dimension, bribing sligs for a free pass with mudokon slaves.
Sub plots could include more about Bigface and Shrykull and their history.
Is there an explanation to why abe is blue? if not we could create one.
Im just throwing ideas around atm.

And a heads up for the future, when it begins to take form voice actors will be needed, so unstitch those lips!

If someone could make a sub-board or something it would be a tremendous help. Then we could have seperate threads for level designs, creature designs, storyline etc.

You're getting a bit ahead of yourself there.
First of all, how exactly are you going to mod AO and AE?
As far as I know, no one in the past 12-15 years has attempted a mod.

Like I say, a short SligStorm demo would be really good. Put a slig respawner near abe, with a lever so that you have infinite slig lives, or make it so that the slig is the main character... if possible.

As for other stories or prequels that would be absolutely fine.

You could probably even try some other things like Scrabs VS Sligs, or Glukkons running away from Paramites, etc.

Anyway, good luck with all of this. I'll be happy to help with a few things if you need ideas or voices etc.

No. Scratch that. Make a test screen or two, no storyline, no purpose whatsoever. Just make a random area with Abe and a Slig, maybe a couple of Muds. Abe has to save the Muds without being killed by the Slig, simple. There's no need for planning a whole new game altogether, we'd like to see proof that you can actually mod AO or AE first.

The most anyone could do at the moment is create level designs. Scripts would have to be implemented in order to allow Scrabs and Sligs to meet. And I mean major scripts, if it's possible at all.

Ive already looked through the game code and its formats. Im more than capable and I'm not doing it on my own. The code is alot less complex than the games on next gen consoles.
The sligstorm sounds managable. I'll do that first to prove myself

where are you living? Im seeing CERN, ventures to Mars, evidence of other life, Stem cell research. Lifes secrets are being cracked.
We're seeing this mod all the way to the finish. If some unforseen problem occurs atleast we will be able to share how to mod the game so someone might be able to continue it.
