Prejudices

I'm just wondering what are you guys prejudice about. I mean no matter how many of you pretend to have amazing morals I'm sure there is just one group of people that to you always seem to fit right in with their stereotypes and drive you insane.

I have 2.

First: Fat people. I can't stand them they just drive me insane. Of course there are a few exceptions such as people who just admit they are fat and have no problem with it. Another example being people who are fat due to some sort of disorder.
Now with those exceptions out of the way let me tell you how much these people irritate me. Every time I go to a movie theatre and see a fat person ordering a large popcorn and a large diet Coke I just want to scream at them. Diet drinks are not going to magically make you not fat. Nor will getting rid of all my tasty fat foods and replacing them with 'healthy' alternatives. You can eat salad till the cows come home, but your fat flabs will not disappear. When will these fatties learn that the best way to lose weight is to get off their couch warmers and exercise. If I see another 'diet' pill with 67 negative side effects I don't know what I'll do.

Second: Women. Again there are few exceptions. Like my youngest sister who is practically a guy so I'm not sure if that counts and girls who's sweetness was lost decades ago. I just can't stand women. They don't know what double standards are. Use circular logic that makes no sense in arguments. Have no respect for themselves. Use sex to get attention/feel better about themselves. Not to mention how almost all girls hate each other, even their good friends. They play games hiding behind expected social behavior. Get way too emotional over everything. Complain about everything and nag way too much. Don't get me started on women who use their period/PMSing as an excuse for their actions.

Here's my favorite joke:
Two women are both getting dressed in a locker room after working out.
Woman A: Wow you have a beautiful body. You new here?
Woman B: Um no. I've been working out here for a few years now.
Woman A: Really? How come I've never seen you before?
Woman B: Well I used to be a man.
Woman A: Oh my gosh! Did it hurt when they gave you breats?
Woman B: No.
Woman A: How about when they cut off your... you know?
Woman B: Nope. Wanna know what did hurt though?
Woman A: What?
Women B: When they cut out half my brain.

People who make an effort to be discourteous.

I might think of more later.

*EDIT*
Oh yeah. Marriage. Rarely do I encounter someone who is in a 'functional' marriage where they are truly happy. What a scam.

The only marriages I've seen where both partners were happy are always homosexual couples. Perhaps I need to find myself a man.

BAM!

But happy homosexual couples shouldn't raise kids because they'll turn out.... screwed up. How's that for reasonable argument?

I do believe that is a trend, and I do believe this is because of the lack of 'expectations' that are felt need be met by a married couple pigeon-holing themselves into the stereotypes that are felt marriage entails. "For better or worse"....

The way I see it: natural human interaction- people come and go, we learn from acquantances and friends by interacting with each other... but none of these things or people are necessarily 'permanent'... so when one forces themself into the lifelong partnership that marriage is, stagnation occurs, and the natural component of human interaction is inhibited by choosing to be with another and embodying marriage stereotypes. Why do you think so many couples are unhappy? There are, of course, couples that are happy but in my experience they settle down and tend to become content with things as they build 'structure' and 'predictability' around themselves and their married lifestyles. No progress, no change. Change ends up being perceived as 'marriage troubles.' God forbid your partner changes.... 'You're not the person I married!!'

And also of course, I risk adding my own stereotypes to marriage; the way people choose to relate to one another, married or not, are as varied as the imagination.

This is really weird. I've got the TV on and while i was writing this the episode of family guy about gay marriage came on where Brian's (the dog) gay cousin comes to visit with his filipino boyfriend and announce they are getting married. Peter just happened to say:

"If gays want to get married and be miserable like the rest of us then I say let them!"

Synchronicity? Interesting that it should come on as I'm talking about that subject.

Hairy people. I have no problem with body hair general, but some people are just very, very hairy, and I’m sure they’re lovely, but I don’t want to get too close to them let alone touch them (not that human physical contact is one of my great loves anyway). I don’t really know why.

And you know I’m positive there’s much more, and about every kind of variation there is in humans. You know I’ll always try to stay fair and non-judgemental, but I’m not good out of my comfort zone, and people and unfamiliarity usually fall out of my comfort zone. So when there’s unfamiliar kinds of people, I’m not at my best.

Second: Women.
I gotta say, I'm a bit offended by this. There are a shit-ton of thoughtful, intelligent, hard-working and honest women in the world and it's kind of fucked up to see them all pigeonholed that way. How many close female friends have you had?

I love women. Although the type(s) you're describing are odious.

I don't know any specific group of people that I inherently despise, just types of behavior.

It doesn't seem reasonable that you are personally offended by his remark because there was no 'personal' aspect to it, especially directed toward you. Of course there are thoughtful, intelligent and hard working women. Similarly, my own remarks were discussing marriage, not women. Attacking 'women' in general would be embodying a stereotype, and this would be similar to stereotyping anything else, like gays or manly-men.

It doesn't work, especially when someone chooses to make it close and personal.

I really wish I could meet one of those women you are describing. Hard working? Most girls I know don't want to work hard cus they'll start to sweat and smell bad. Honest women? The women I know are always starting rumors about people and telling their friend's secrets.
When friend A tells friend B not to tell anyone. Then Friend B tells friend C not to tell anyone. Friend C tells friend D not to tell anyone... when will they learn to just not gossip about people?

I have 2 very close female friends. One who acts like a woman from the 50s, and another who thinks ejaculating on a woman's face is very demeaning.

Venks, I think you're point is valid in that it is your own viewpoint spoken from personal experience, a lot like my viewpoint about marriage is spoken out of personal experience... is it the truth? Well.... not exactly it's just my objective analysis based on subjective experience.

Always one small piece of the bigger picture.

I've met a lot of cunning, grabby, and thoughtless women too, and I think there is a growing social trend for this, but I know that decent women are out there because I've met them as well.

EDIT: posted at the same time as Venks.

My impression from his post was that he was well aware that his description does not apply to all women, but that his experiences have caused him to think the worse of any new women he were to meet.

Yes, but to get to that level so much he even has a bad joke about it shows that he is stereotyping. I was reading straight from his first post, which is:
:
"I just can't stand women. Don't get me started on women who use their period/PMSing as an excuse for their actions."
There's no part in here about exceptions except for his sister, which is understandable cuz she's family and butch, and some other friends. He still permeates the Stereotype with every new one he meets.

Yet you like me?

Braggarts, I know this might seem a little rich coming from me but I hate people who just constantly go on about sex and sexual encounters in a way that's demeaning to the woman/man involved, I am at heart a chivalrous and honest person and I cannot stand such comments.

Also woman beaters. There is no excuse.

And masculine men seriously piss me off, largely speaking I cannot stand them.

I am prejudice against Christians. I think they feel all "High and Mighty" as they worship some invisible man in the sky, then try and convert you, and be really intolerant, and generally be jack-asses.
Also....I don't like severely mentally retarded people. They scare me, and I think they are sub-human animals....Ugh, now I feel bad for saying that.

Well, I guess...

Really Old people who are not my family. I love my grandparents, but non-related old-people scare me to death for some reason. Especially if they're senile. Our well-meaning school took us to an old-people home to "broaden our minds". It did the opposite and now I'm scarred.

Otherwise, maybe drunk Aboriginal men. Not because I don't like Aboriginals, but I'm just scared I might piss them off in some way and get raped or glassed or something.

Not all work is labor. I'm talking about working several jobs at a time and stretching oneself far too thin at their own expense in order to provide for themselves and their loved ones.

Psychics. Horrible fraudsters praying on the grief and loss of good people. It's amazing how when a magician does the same tricks, we try to figure out how they did it, but when a self-proclaimed psychic does the same thing, so many people turn off their brains and accept whatever they say.

Creationists. But only when they "turn it on," so to speak. Most I know are very nice people (there are a select few who are the most vile humans I've ever heard of, but in their case creationism is a symptom of a greater rot) but as soon as it kicks off, they fall into every trap and pitfall they set for themselves.

People who dismiss or are even hostile to science and academia in general. Just, WTF? Pathological.

MOD EDIT: Many posts were split off at this point and moved here.

Religious people who try to convert you actively to their beliefs. I've met a few Christians who you could say were more fanatical than Islamic suicide bombers in Iraq. Desperate to cast down anything they even think might be vaguely blasphemous, I saw them at the age of 10 with a picket line in front of a Borders book store holding up signs for all kinds of books, the best one being a picture of Harry Potter hugging the devil with a smile on his face. I went in anyway and they started preaching about how my mom was leading me to a satanic ritual and how Harry Potter is the antichrist on Earth. It's infuriating to see them act as if a simple book or other thing, like a TV show, or movie, will turn everyone in a soulless demon.

And I feel the same way towards fat people as Venks does.

Homophobes.(Not Hobophobes and Homophones as I typo'd) Nothing makes me angrier than a homophobe. Other than shitty threads.

homophobes and radical christians, those groups are the height of ignorance. i find homophbia to be completely unfounded and i cant understand why people who are apparently so "happy with their own sexuality" find it ok to discriminate against other because of theirs.

Oh dang! I'm mad this went so far. I've been missing out on all the fun!

@ Kimon:
:
Not all work is labor. I'm talking about working several jobs at a time and stretching oneself far too thin at their own expense in order to provide for themselves and their loved ones.
True. My mother was like that when I was very young. My mother had just graduated High School and had three children to take care of while her husband had ran off to go trick other women into having sex with him. My mother worked herself to the bone to provide for us. She worked labor tasking jobs that her employers easily would of preferred a man to do. My mother helped us get away from the disastrous neighborhood we lived in. When the people killed or raped on the news are always your next door neighbors it's time to find a new place to live.

I understand why some women are the way they are, but too many are just attention hungry whores.

:
Judging by that snide description, you don't seem to be that close.
The girl who acts like she's from the 50s is my ex-ex-girlfriend and best friend. We had dated for just over a year and had strong feelings for each other, but as we were both each other's firsts we didn't want to commit so young. I love her with all my heart and have a blast making fun of how short she is.
The girl who has trouble with women being ejaculated on is another of my close friends. She is a very flirty girl who at first I thought was slut, but upon getting to know her better I realized she didn't do anything sexual with anyone and she would spend all of her time just trying to make other people happy. She is a very benevolent person whom I cherish knowing.

So you might think maybe I should just need to get to know all these girls on an individual level. No thanks. I know enough of these girls and they seriously just like starting drama to get attention if they want to admit it or not.

@ Max: How about you, Joey boy(WoF), and me? Though I don't know how I would be able to stay calm in the presence of two such sexy men.

As for what OANST is saying he is completely right about discussing how he feels about these things. Like he said this place is a forum for discussing things. If shaman doesn't want to discuss it he doesn't have to.
Personally I know two wiccans. One being my first crush. She was a christian who decided praying to Satan was much cooler and she carried around this book of magic spells. She rebelled against everything and got me into a lot of trouble. So uh yeah... that speaks for itself.
The other wiccan happens to be my close friend who has problems with man fluids being dispersed onto a woman's face. She happens to be a catholic who loves her parents very much and doesn't seem to want to rebel. However she prays to Satan and believes through meditation she can do magic. I've asked her to show me sometime, but we havn't seem to gotten around to that.

As for the whole 'Christians are lame thing for forcing their believes down my throat' thing I can say the same thing about atheists. While I happen to be atheist I find myself very ashamed of my atheists friends who seem to have no religious tolerance. While my parents are not Christian, but agnostic, my grandparents and other family are all Christian. I know when my grandfather hopes that one day I'll find God he doesn't dislike my beliefs. He just doesn't want me to burn in hell for all eternity. Would you wish that on anyone? Unfortunately I don't believe in hell, but I understand his concern.

@ ssilbyma:
:
i never said i believed in it ... all i really meant was, peoples beliefs and religions shouldn't be debated no matter how unrealistic they seem to be!!
Scientology ssilbyma... scientology.
