Happy Abe's Oddysee Tribute

I'll give myself right to start a new topic despite being new member and having zero post count, if you don't mind it. (Couldn't find a rule which explicitly state otherwise). If I'm wrong, I am very sorry.

Anyways, I've made tribute to Oddworld games for latest TIGSource competition. Game is basically retro-themed clone of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. While game does not refer to any Oddworld character it does implement number of Oddworld-ish features such as possession, gamespeak and general gameplay style, qualifying it as a proper tribute.

Windows build for short compo edition (v0.783):

[Game can run on other platforms as well, such as MacOS X and Linux, but I do not have builds. If anyone wants to compile it for their platform I can provide source. ]

Some things which are distinct from original Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee game include retro-style artwork and FX, horror-themed atmosphere, and music - but only in compo edition. (The original full edition of the game - Uneksians: Beli's Oddysee will come with Oddworld-style music).

I'm currently working on complete version of the game under project name Uneksians: Beli's Oddysee. Not sure when it's going to be done. Number of features are going to be added on top of existing set, some already-coded stuff is going to be implemented in level design, and level design will be completely redesigned and aside of that it will be expanded.

Current version (compo edition) is short, puzzles are not awesome and has some features missing ( like Gunners for example ). But is nonetheless playable.

Thanks for reading.

It's great, well done!

But I can't pass the screen with the mines, Beli with his big head can't jump high!

Thank you.

Do you use 'Left Shift' for running/jumping boost? I really should rework the way controls are told. Too many people have troubles with what does what.

You have to guide them to the rescue point - the white particles. :P

There are push-once switches, which once pushed stay pushed. And there are push-always switches which deactivate after moving from them. What switches do is that they deactivate or activate specific blocks so to block or allow the passage.
