Anybody played 'The Longest Journey'?
I just bought this game after reading great reviews (all 90%+) of it. Supposedly it didn't do too well in the sales area, like most really great games, but it is absolutely amazing. Right up there with, and in some ways even better than Grim Fandango.
Final Fantasy fans might like it too - the score's great, and it's a scifi narrative as well.
