Steve, what are you talking about? The game is clearly marked as rated M, meaning that the game is not intended for children or anyone mentally unstable. There is no reason at all to ban the game or make the developers do a watered-down remake.

well that doesn't stop any kid with the money from getting the game if there was some sort of law against against that I would be agreeing with you so mabey they shouldn't get rid of the game but make it hard for kids to get.

First of all, I think that if a kid did get that game, there would be no damage at all to the kid or his brain. I am 14 years old, and I have the game. I'm fine. My little 10 year old sister has watched me play the game for long periods of time, and she's fine.

Second of all, there is a law against selling M-rated games to minors. So, any kid with money wouldn't be able to get the game. Any adult with money would, but not any kid.

There are so many other reasons against living in this bog of eternal stench - GTA3 ranks pretty low.

Still pissed, though. I wanted to play that game uncut on PC next Feb.

For the record, I know a few people who would consider participating in a toned-down re-enactment of some of the scenes in the Grand Theft Auto games. But it can be argued that these people would be influenced by other things even if GTA3 were to be banned.

Either way, I wasn't planning on buying it.

1. I didn't know it was planned for a PC launch.
2. PCs didn't have compatibility regions last time I checked! So what are you whining about, you can just import it.

And Sydney, whatchoo talkin' bout, you're not gonna buy it? You'd love it! You liked Oddworld because of it's spoof on real life? GTA3 is 10 times that! Seriously though, Sydney, I urge you to rent it. I bet you'll like it a lot.

Daniel, much as I think GTA3 is a fantastic game, I don't think it could be described, by any stretch of the imagination, as a spoof of real life - it is meant to BE real life...

Sydney, I find blaming crime on computer games as ridiculous as blaming it on musicians... The fact is, our entire culture is set up to raise children as aggressive and desensitised to violence as possible, and fingering any one thing like this is silly. [I'm not saying that was what you were doing, I'm just arguing with the non-existant person here who says that GTA3 is to blame for all of society's evils...]

As an example of how desensitised today's youth is, children of my mother's generation had to hide behind the sofa to watch Dr. Who. Kids of my brother's generation [there's only a 9-year age gap between us, but it still feels like he's a different generation] watch slasher movies without even batting an eyelid...

It is a spoof but the spoof is much more obvious than OW.
You obviously haven't played it, or you didn't look at the names of the cars.

I have played it [which is why I have been saying how good it is, duh...], but no, I wasn't paying attention to the car names. Even so, calling it a spoof is hardly justified. Oddworld has [or had] satire, whereas GTA3 has lots of lovely blood...

I'd read in a magazine that it was getting commercial release on PC early next year. And I don't really think that any game's worth the import costs involved.

Except No One Lives Forever, and Grim Fandango...perhaps...

Actually, GTA3 is very much a spoof of real life. Sit in your car and listen to the radio (on GTA3). Listen to the commercials. Listen to Chatterbox (one of the radio stations. It's HILARIOUS). Just play the game and it soon becomes obvious that it IS a spoof of real life. It's even more obvious than in Oddworld.
