Every time I read the local paper, I generally read:
"This house was broken into."
"This car was smashed. £#### worth of goods was stolen."
"There was a crash here."
"We are the local council and we're making yet another stupid building plan that'll crush more green spaces and will ruin the area even further."
"This area was vandalised."
"Some dude was stabbed yesterday."
"This school is running a charity event. Here's a mid-page spread with photos of kids painting pictures."
"We've run out of news. This is a report on a cat that got stuck up a tree."
Every. Day.
Same. Drudge.
And it pisses me miles and miles of off.
I'm not even gonna mention the letter's section. People are so narrow and stupid here.
Well okay, there was once this letter written by a guy who associated the local college logo with buskers because it looks a bit like a guitar plectrum.
And there's a bunch of other people who think that building a useless road (everyone else has proved that the plans are useless, stupidly expensive, and wouldn't do a smegging thing to ease congestion) over the most significant and best-preserved anglo-saxon burial site ever to be found is a really brillant idea.
Parts of Essex are really nice, but why, WHY do people here have to be so goddamned stupid? Gaugh.

Ah yeah, the BNP stood here in this part of Essex where I live, too. The funny thing is, they even beat the Labour party. Fortunately they didn't get in anywhere though. . .
And for those who don't know, British National Party are basically British Nazis. Their policies include deporting everyone from Britain who isn't caucasian (including those who have lived here for generations), increasing military spending, re-introducing the death penalty (Capital punishment), re-introducing complusary national service (They'll force you to go into the army), proposing that everyone has rifle and ammunition in thier homes, and they'll break Britain away from the EU. They also have a very, very strong anti-Islamic policy.
Wouldn't it be nice if they got into power, huh? :P And they're trying just that by bullshitting those who are shallow and don't keep thier ear to the ground. Which in Britain, most people here are.
Of course as a side affect, the whole UK would fall apart 'cause of its dependance on immigrants. Then we'd become a military state and destroy ourselves by going against the middle east in a full-scale race war.
Not much happening in my town. Couple accidents on a nearby interstate, a toddler drank some lighter fluid, some laws got tightened. Relatively boring.

Ditto... The newspaper had 9 pages about some anti-violence campaign. I have no idea how it would change anything.
Another thing was this really long debate about whether Islamic women wearing headscarfs as a religious symbol should be allowed to be a judge in court... The whole thing ended up with NO religious symbols being allowed on the judges at all... SO much for religious integrity in Denmark. I really hate the fact that one of the leading political groups are anti-foreigners...
Oh and the last significant title was about this Nazi-guy talking about being a nazi , showing a picture of himself n all. Says that he's fighting hard along with a handful of others to preserve Danish traditions, and make any foreigner who comes here be just like them. And then he proceeded to talk about animal rights.

Well, some local lunatic killed his kid with a damn shot-gun then shot himself. Wow, family love is wonderful. Not actually....and someone from my mums work hanged himself in his house and his mum found him there two days later. apperently his GF broke up with him.
So, murder and suicide. Kinda alot for a small area....
But, knowing the place where I live, nothin' interesting will happen for the next 10 years.
Over this passed weekend, a ninth grader at my school got hit by a car while riding his bike. All of his teeth were knocked out, he was put on a resperator, went into emergergency surgery, and roughly had a 50/50 chance of living. Luckily, he's not paralyzed and I think his condition has stablized.
Anyway so yea... A chick in my city got attacked by 7 other chicks... They burnt her with cigarettes, threw ketchup on her, Made her get naked and dance in front of their mobile-camera, peed on her... Chicks in DK are getting horrible..
Another girl got attacked by some chicks.. They also beat up her mother and little-sister.. They destroyed her knee-cap.
Sometimes, I DO wish I had the ability to painfully kill someone and get away with it.. THese girls are just... Inhuman.

As for my area, headlines are mostly made of the everyday political issues, strikes and demonstrations, children being violent towards their teachers (sometimes their parents are also involved - they go against the teachers as well).
Oh, and this (might as well introduce visual sources to the thread). First tornade fully recorded in Hungary. Ever.
The cameraman's real profession is hunting for tornados, so you might understand why he's shouting things like "There, it's swirling!". Fanatism, I guess.

The British government really ought to do something about our transport situation, though. They want to stop people using their cars and take the train, but parking and train fares are so expensive. . . They don't want people to park outside people's houses, so they (try and fail to) paint yellow lines instead of reducing parking fees. :S Stupid.
