We can turn the editing function on and off... I'm not sure if it's currently off... maybe Sydney turned it off.
The only trouble w/ UBB's "edited" message, it's large and quite ugly. One of the hacks/modifications I am going to look at in the future is for a more compact "edited by" comment which is in smaller font and doesn't duplicate after multiple edits.
