Happy An "imaginary" fan game!

Hey all Oddworld fans and videogames lover, I have something to tell to all you: from when I was 7 years old, I have enjoyed Oddworld so much! But... when I finish it for the 12th time, I tell to myself: "What if I image another Oddworld game", so with paper and pen I started to draw some new "levels" with the 2D style of Exoddus, adding some stuff! Sadly... I didn't have created the name yet!

But when I saw for the first time Munch's Oddysee (it was maybe on 2001)! I started to drawing some 3D level.... but from here, I go crazy: maybe GTA's fault, or Deus Ex's fault... I transformed Abe in a killing machine, like a CJ of San Andreas, I manage him to drive vehicles and use "non-ordinary" weapons for him (Bazooka, ecc...)! I called the game "Oddworld: Glukkon's Revenge"!

In the 2004, the first time that I played Munch's Oddysee, I was excited: WOW! It will be a great game! Then the sad truth: the level are identical, the gameplay boring and ripetitive! But this made come up an idea from my mind: "HEY! Abe MUSTN'T and I repeat MUSTN't be a killer, a driver, ecc..."!

So the big idea: "Re - write" the Oddworld story from Oddysee in fully explorabile 3D world"! In the 2006, i started to write about my crazy project "ODDWORLD: QUINTODDOGY".

So what? You may tell! Nothing, I wish to talk with you about this, these are the feature for this game... feel free to talk about them!

1 - Fully explorable 3D world: there aren't "linear" level as the previous game, if you want to return, for example, in the Paramonian Temple, you can!
2 - Added Difficulty levels: yes! Easy - Normal - Hard and some others (secret).
3 - Story rewrited: due to the 3D, the story may change in some parts... but basically it will stay the same!
4 - Abe/Munch can use weapon: Yes, but Abe Mudokon weapons, like the spooce shrubs bow and the Mudokon Tomahawk (and of course the classical grenade), and Munch is "little thing" in his head (sorry I don't know of say it )
5 - Power up! : There are in all Oddworld "Artisan Mudokon": you can buy power up for weapons with Spooce Shrubs ! Also the health will grow up during the game!
6 - No limit to your imagination! You can pass some levels using hundred and hundred of method! There aren't "forced" solutions!
7 - New characthers: Mitras the Slig and Boby his Slog! Plus the characther of the game never released: Fangus, Nod, Squeek!
8 - GAMESPEAK!: The gamespeak will NOT be removed, it's one of the best Oddworld charactherstic! And all the playable characthers can use it!
9 - ABILITY and COLLABORATION: Every characthers have their ability, you can mix them for pass some level! Some strong characthers as Stranger can "launch" very far a small characther such as Munch or Squeek!
10 - Oddworld is goodd!!

Sounds like a great game from your description but who's going to make it? Maybe the 3-d one had ought to be called Glukkon Theft Oddo. Awsome idea.

As I say, it's only a FAN GAME! I don't know if will be realized...
Maybe if Lorne Lanning will take a look of this thread...

ABOUT THE STORY

The story of Oddworld: Quintoddogy will start with a movie that shows why the Glukkons have doomed the Mudokon races in slaves!

Then here it start the "Abe's Oddysee chapter", but it has got some change!

1) In the first movie, most of the sentences previously narrated in third person now are in first person (but "This is RuptureFarms..." still stays)!
2) The part where Abe is hanging over the meat slasher of the first movie is cut out! (The story is narrated at present "NO FLASHBACK" so)
3) News video: one of this shows Abe in the Monsaic Lines, and Big Face asks him to religthing all the holy fires in the two temples! Then Big Face gives to Abe a "Mudahawk Club"... and then there is a boss fight (not with Big Face )
4) When you get into the boardroom and kill the Glukkons, then you have to fight Molluck (NOT with Sligs weapon)! Stunning or killing him will decide of the chapter ends!

Lorne's pretty busy with his movie career at the moment...I wish he'd make the last game of the quint...It drives me mad when cliffy's are left (though I did that to Lobo on my story, and it's a detail I like to leave sometimes :P )

I've always thought of Oddworld made in to, like...a WoW-type of game. You could use all the characters, make up your own storyline, and whatnot. I actually like your idea. (And if OWI added the difficulty levels in Stranger's Wrath with a few goodies in each, I would'a continued playing it long long ago x3 ) Oddworld like WoW...What a dream to live up to...^^

I've always thought of Oddworld made in to, like...a WoW-type of game. Oddworld like WoW...What a dream to live up to...^^
It would be great! An immense world like Oddworld as an online playing game!!! "MY" game won't be like WoW... my inspiration is "GTA", but without blood and vehicle theft!

ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY

Oddworld: Quintoddogy has a total different gameplay compared to the previous games (Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath).
Infact if you have played Munch, you have realized that the gameplay is ripetitive, boring and linear! Infact, I take as example the "Slog-hut levels": it's very strange that there are falling "Bonepowder Keg" and mines everywhere! It's a Slog-hut or a mine field???? MEH!
Another problem of Munch (and with Stranger's Wrath too) is the excessive "linearity": there are always a "forced" way, and, when in Stranger you complete a bounty in a zone, then you cannot return there! WHY???

BUT in Quintoddogy there are less linearity! You can travel around Oddworld using: birds portal (you can teleport into sacred Mudokon building such as "Monsaic Lines", "Necrum" and "Almighty Raisin Cave"... and other too...), boats, trains and of course ELUM!!!!! You can use Elum everywhere, even inside a factory ... if you kill it, you can find others into Mudokon villages... but, beside this, there are many others travelling way!
You can GENERALLY return to an old village or factory: about factory, such as Rupture Farms and Soulstorm Brew, when shutted down, you won't still able to return into them.

Quintoddogy will use the control system of Stranger's Wrath with some changes: there isn't a "Regain Health" button, there are "Rigenerators" instead (that brew with the "wired Mudokon face" into the vendos machine). There are three "attack buttons": one for the primary weapon (which can has also a secondary fire), one for the melee attack and one for throwing stuff such as rocks or grenades. Then there are comands "obligatory" for all "action - platform" games such as jump, roll, et cetera...

GAMESPEAK will return. If you press a button (which in the "PS3" version is L2) you can "pass" in the "Gamespeak modality": for talk, press one of the directional buttons! If you want to say "Hello", Press L2 + Up (press and release). The "All ya" comand is L2 + Up (but being pressed). Right? L2 + R2 is the special power of the characther controlled... and, as I say before: ALL CHARACTHERS CAN TALK!

Weapons: every characthers have their weapons. Abe will not use Slig weapons, the same will do Stranger... he has his double barrell crossbow . Almost all the weapons have a secondary attack (Stranger's crossbow for example, since it has two barrell, the primary fire is of the left ammo, and the secondary of the second). During the game you can recieve or find other weapons... and if you have enough spooce shrubs/Moolah you can power up them! A well - powered weapon can be very useful in a boss fight
The game will not become easy with weapons... so don't think even if Abe has his spooceshrubs bow can become a "war-machine". It's better don't fight useless battle... unless you have to do it!

Other changing: like a GTA game, Oddworld will take "some of it"... no, Abe won't stole vehicles from Slig (even it would be funny!). There are "radar" in the left - bottom corner which shows the map! The radar works like a "GPS", and there are also a "white blinking dot" where tell you where to go (if you want, ignore them and explore Oddworld ).
For example, in the Rupture Farms (at the beginning), that dot tell you the "escape way": you think that is too easy? Go to option and disable the radar, nobody will rebuke you!
When you complete an "objective", then next "mission" will start! You have escaped from the Rupture Farms? Well, mission accomplished... new mission: escape from Stockyards ! Got it?

Well, that's NOT all! I really like if someone else will comment about that!

Artworks

I draw some artworks using also some images around the Oddworld site!

The first is the Paramonian Temple in is 3D-looking "restlye": I focus my attention to be more realistic possible! There is also a waterfall on the left, you may not notice it... it's just here for "beautiful"!

The second is the Slog hut! I didn't change the building, but some others stuff! Now the sloghut is surrounded by a metal fence, and in every corner there are tower guards! There also another fence that cover compley the river's bank (yes, in Munch's Oddysee there was a kind of "river"), and in the farness the "Mudokon fortress! The sloghut cover most of the other stuff: the brigde which connects the Sloghut and the Mudokon fortress for first!

May I not draw so well... but... I hope these draws are interesting

We did some .txt document, but italian so i don't think you will undestand something

BTW, here's some weapons

ABE

Sling - Abe's first weapon! It's the less powerful Abe's weapon: it fires small stunning rocks. Two positive things: the rocks are infinite and it's useful for launch more far a grenade!

Mudahawk Club - A great melee Mudokon combat weapon. It has two modes: stunning and normal which are self-explenatory. It has a power that can increase the attack strength!

Spoocheshrubs Bow - Lethal long range Mudokon weapon with "machinegun" fire. It fires letals arrow with spooceshrubs power. Like the Club, it has two modes: stunning and normal.

Mudokon Cannon - The most powerful Mudokon weapon! It fires an explosive rock which explode when hitting something! The Mudokon Cannon is very heavy and the bulletts are rare and expensive!

Grenade - Normal explosive throwing weapon! After 5 seconds it blows up!

Dazzling Bomb - Mudokon manifacturing bomb! When throwed, it explodes when hitting something: it release a blinding flash which makes temporanly inoffensive every enemies... and Abe too!

MUNCH WEAPONS

Headport - Munch's Headport can be used also like a "melee" weapon: it zap an enemy with a small lighthing. The lighthings aren't lethal... but you can charge the power by holding the button attack and release it after the lighthing power reaches the 100%!

Underwater Gun - "It's a Slig weapon without the hilt attached on Munch's right arm by a belt"! It is commanded directly by Munch's headport. It fires two types of harpoons (Electric/Stunning and Normal) and a torpedo! It can be used underwater or in the land!

SQUEEK WEAPON

Bowgun - It's the only weapon used by him. It fires three types of small arrows: Stunning, normal and explosive.

STRANGER WEAPONS

Double Barrel Crossbow - Stranger's primary weapon, instead of ammo it uses little animals which can be found around Oddworld: Bolamite, Fuzzle, Zappfly, Stingbee, Stunkz, Thudslug, Boombat, Chippunk and Wasps. The barrel can fire separatly two animals at the same time!

Kendler Sniper-Rifle: It's a legendary weapon: it fires big stunning bullets.

FANGUS WEAPONS

MITRAS WEAPONS

Baton: Sligs' melee combat weapon! It can stun an opponent... but it isn't a very useful weapon!

Slig Machinegun: A Slig "status symbol" weapon. It's a machinegun which it can be installed also a grenade launcher! Mitras has got infinite bulletts...

Tranquilizer Gun: Sligs' non lethal weapon. It's a normal gun which fires tranquilizer bulletts.
