i didnt actually realise it was pancake day today, until i got home to find my girlfriend cooking pancakes for tea (stuff yerself, i say! none of this 'pancakes for pudding' lark!).

I think waffles in the U.S. are egg‐based. They’re certainly not the same as ours.
I believe they are Pancakes and waffles would taste rather bad without eggs.
On topic: No one ever told me there is such thing as a Pancake day! Man.. This day would have been perfect for me if it existed! I make delicious pancakes
