(in the voice of a bizzare mixture of Helen from Big Bro2 and Janice from Friends)

Sobe is an actual power up!!!
they're becoming more, and more, like Glukkons!
it's Oddworld Farm!

i suppose it is quite funny being able to get Sobe in the game as well as in America...

Ack! Major bummer alert! The characters will be controlled with the analogue stick, and the camera with the D-pad! Noooo! I hate controlling stuff with an analogue stick; I just can't get the hang of it. I really hope that there is an option that lets you swap those round (i.e. camera with stick, characters with pad).

What I really like in a game is complete control over what each button does. In the WipEout games you can either use the default controls, or you can swap all the button functions around to whatever configuration is easiest for you. For example, in Wip3out, the default controls are X for accelerate, Square to discard a weapon, and O to fire a weapon. Because the buttons are arranged like so:

# /\ #
[] # O
# X #

(# doesn't represent a button; they're just there to keep the ASCII art in place)

this means that in order to fire a weapon (O), you have to take your thumb off the accelerator button (X). However, because I can reconfigure the controls, I make [] into the accelerate button, and X into the fire button, so I can fire a weapon with the 'heel' of my thumb without taking my thumb off the accelarator.

Back to my original point. Because MO is absolutely stuffed with great graphics and gameplay, it may not be possible to squeeze button re-configuring ontothe disc as well. But if it is possible, I really hope OI include it. It can make games really easier, and shaped to the player's own style. It also amounts to enormous fun when your little bro puts the game on pause and leaves the room for a while, and you re-arrange the controls while he's away and really baffle him when he comes back ("Hey! Why am I going backwards?")!

that sort of thing seems to be limited to the PC games...but, since the Xbox is the closest console to the PC it's quite likely...

personally, i love my analogue sticks

I remember reading somewhere that there was a "SoBe build" that OI made up, and that it wasn't in the full game. I'm not sure though. But even if it is, I'm sure the money they make will just get OI better and better equiptment/programmers, so is it really that bad? But I draw the line at one button making one of munch's gamespeak lines "Drink SoBe!"
By the way Gluk, the Xbox controller will have two rumbly thingies (there is a technical name for them, right?) on each side of the controller.
P.S. Is that what the Dualshocks have, or do they just have 1?
P.P.S. Gluk stop stroking the controller. It's scaring the children.

Yes, the Sony controllers do just have the one rumbler, in the left 'arm' of the controller. I suppose this is because if they had two, they might not rumble in synchronisation, and the shell of the controller would gradually rupture. I have a translucent green Dualshock, and you can see the little rumbly thing actually working! Wheehee! It's fun! (ok, I officially need to get out more.)

Edit: Oh yeah, I'm a little sceptical about SoBe sponsoring MO. Smells of corporate cash-in to me. But as FuzzyFuzzle pointed out, it might not be too bad, as long as it doesn't dominate the game. And hey, if WipEout 2097 and Red Bull could pull it off smoothly, I'm sure OI can too.

Wow, thanks for that link, GS! *plays with the animations*

So why can I only see one weight in my green DualShock? Either I got a dud one, or the weight is behind another bit of palstic and I can't see it.

on second thought...Middlesbogie...you probably won't be able to change the controls because Munch will be controlled with the 2 analogue sticks and there aren't 2 D-pads...

Both analogue sticks! But there's only one Munch. Why do you need two sticks?
