You don't want an old female leader believe me. We Brits tried it and it didn't turn out so well.

I'm not an American, so I won't vote, but I want the black guy to win.

It's so hard to decide I don't really know yet. But most likely I won't vote for either Republicans or Democratics becuase they both suck. Well thats my opinion.

I despise this "throw away your vote" mentality that a lot of people have. In fact, one of the biggest reasons we only have two "major" parties to choose from (besides legislation and red tape) is the fact that the majority of Americans think that they would be "throwing their vote away" if they voted for a third party. You know, if people would just ditch this pessimistic attitude, then maybe, I don't know, we could have more than one party with significant funding and *gasp* representation.

It's such BS. It's never throwing your vote away if you're voting for something you believe in!! What the fuck is the point of having a democracy if you can only choose apples or oranges? Sometimes I want a goddamn banana.

...

Only not this time around. I'm feeling like oranges. Obama FTW. I back... feh... most of his stances, and that's more than I can normally say about the usual Dems or Repubs.

You see racism in everything.

SeaRex, no 3rd party has even won a single state in the US for at least a century.

Nah. They'll just get a feminist/censorship movement that reduces the media to become more "politally correct" than ever, and since Europe tends to import stuff like TV shows, movies and games from America ...

*fights urge to post an O RLY? image*

And that's thanks in part to this "throwing away your vote" garbage. Americans always complain about "only having two choices" whenever an election rolls around, but they're too complacent or just plain apathetic to inform themselves about any other parties. They just assume it's a lost cause, but if American society could just shake off this general malaise, then more people wouldn't be so scared to vote for a third party.

Yeah, I mean, it crawls all up in your floorboards, then you have to get pest control on the scene, and of course they're going to charge you an exorbitant amount to have it removed from the premises.

Not to mention the fact that they scuffed up all of your antique tile in the kitchen. Amateurs.

Side note: "Malaise" is one of my favorite words, and I use it whenever I can. Connotation be damned.

I'd vote for Thompson, if I could. But on the 3rd party-
True, but it's a vicious cycle that will probably take a century to break. Also, MF, you might like Giuliani better, considering McCain would probably not allow you to have a civil union with your husband.

Obama definately he has a wide appeal not only because I have strong liberal-democrat leanings and I agree with a lot of his ideas and policies, but I want some new blood in the White House after we've already had 2 Bushes and if we have Hillary 2 Clintons. I loved Clinton and Bush senior even though I was a younging when he was in office was ok, but Bush Jr and Hillary just no. I do like some of Ron Paul's ideas even though he's a Republican too. Namely his policy of isolationism in terms of our foreign policy, seeing how we've pissed off 3/4ths of the nations of the world. I wish someone would start cracking down on these lobbyists in Washington as well, they are a huge part of the problem already, added to all the other corruption...eek.

I think it also helps meeting the candidate though and talking to them. I was lucky enough to meet Senator Obama who is my state senator before he was even planning to run back in October of 2006.
