And from what I've seen Fangus seemed a bit too human to be Oddworldian.
Since Fangus is a human (albeit one descended from dogs) and not an Inhabitant of Oddworld, this isn’t such a bad thing. The only argument against it is that it might be a disappointment to Oddworld fans who are looking for similarly unearthly designs in OWI’s other fictional settings.

No, all we know is simply that it's another universe where "humans" didn't evolve from monkeys but from cats and dogs

I'm eagerly looking forward to Citizen Seige's release and seeing what the brilliant minds in OI created this time around. As for Fangus, I don't think it really would have turned out that great- AO and AE were absolute hits, but MO and SW don't seem to be doing so well on the popularity scale. And from what I've seen (that is, of course, assuming I got the character and the production sketches matched correctly) Fangus seemed a bit too human to be Oddworldian.
Yes, he did for a time.. But once he gots the Rabies, he kinda looked like... Stranger, except with cat feet (personaly, I thought that was what Stanger would look like at the time, before I knew what was under those boots..)
But I liked the idea of the sheep, or Oyrix sheep (As I like to call them.) as fuzzles in Munch's (Although, It has not be detirmed if they ate like them, but I think so.. Read my story).
I think It could be a good game, If they added some elements from Abe's Ex. (like rescuing sheep from *industial*) plus puzzles, and there was going to be a fight club (from the look of consept art), so fist fighting was also going to be a prime to.. so it could have been a very weird, but fansanting gene..

...people want 3D now, and OWI might not even get enough money from any new 2D games, but I'd like it as much as you do.
I don't think Lorne Lanning would focus on 2D due to the fact that he is trying to reach a wider audience. However I don't think 2D will be completely ignored, as long as their are people who enjoy playing 2D games.

As far as I know the main three systems (Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3) all have online features allowing you to download old games, many of which are 2D.
New Super Mario Bros. had 3D graphics that took place in a side-scrolling 2D world, this game sold 9.5 million copies. Poke'mon Diamond/Pearl has moved up to 3D graphics yet the world is really still 2D, this game sold 6.91 million copies.
Their is obviously people who enjoy games with 2D play.

Nintendo has been known for being innovative, I wouldn't be surprised to find 2D-esque Oddworld games on the Wii or DS.

We will just have to wait and see.

Cripes, I almost totally forgot about Fangus.
I was really looking forward to it as well, those guns of his would have been very righteous.
My only problem is that people are so finnicky now, violent games are always the subject of controversy (GTA, Manhunt, etc...) So Fangus was supposed to be pretty bloody and (given the nature of Canine and Feline Descendants) There would be a lot of gore as well, and there is no way OI could stand to lose a lawsuit, it'd ruin 'em.

It did look kind of like Stranger. I would have like it if the characters didn't look so human. The evil goat things were awesome though I thought. The story of people evolved from cats and dogs I thought was a dumb idea though, because tht's already been done before.

I think they were like his herd so they would follow him and help attack enemies probably.

He was called a Sheperd in GI, but I think he would have commanded them like the Fuzzles in MO..

I dont think the media could get that much on Fangus (if it was made) becuse I have not even seen Doom 3 on the news (I watch fox, If CNN get all thier facts messed up..)

I doubt they would have some problems with the law by doing this game, there many many games that are much more violent then what Fangus was supposed to be.

Plus big point in OWI's favor, you don't actually shoot on humans, you shoot on cathybrids

Cathy brids?

From what I know of it, the story of Fangus is perfectly well suited to Oddworld, if a little darker than what we’re used to. Set in some land completely separate from Mudos, and invaded by another country completely separate from Mudos, it could broaden our understanding of the planet no end.

The only reason I’m glad it’s not Oddworld are the characters. ‘Humans’ evolved from various cats and dogs is a decent idea that would be executed in Oddworld style, but would completely spoil the mythos of Oddworld. And if OWI aren’t going to produce the kinds of unique, twisted, enthralling character designs it used to, perhaps they should take a break from Oddworld.
