Imaginary Friends

All the cool kids had imaginary friends when they were younger. Some people still have imaginary friends. I am one of them.

When I was younger:

A Sunglasses-wearing, black-haired, cool dude named Acey...or Ace. I can't remember much of him.

Now:

If I'm scared and alone, I imagine that my characters are with me.

So did any of you have imaginary friends? or is it just me?

Hmm, well, when I was six, I appeared to have a robot friend called Mr. Seven. Now, I realize I'm immature, as I like to believe that Dr. Sam Beckett and Rear Admiral Al Calavicci are with me. I'm a sad person, aren't I?

I know I did.

A little geen bean type guy by the name of "Think"
He had a wife, and I don't remember if he had 1, or 2 or how many kids.
I don't manifest him anymore, but I'm pretty sure he's a big influence on how I think today

I never really had an imaginary friend. I don't know why, it's weird.

I used to think all my stuffed animals were alive and could talk to me when I was younger . That's the closest thing I had to an imaginary friend.

Same here. I think Toy Story and The Brave Little Toaster did that to me. Sometimes I still automatically apologize for stepping on one of my plushies.

I did for a short while, however, have my Alien friend, Quoren. He's still with me, but in a slightly different form.

Hmm. Did your Alien friend pop out of your chest and turn into a Xenomorph?

Here's a suggestion; bar Havoc from this thread. You just know he's going to make a God joke.

Anyway, I did have many imaginary friends as a kid, but I can't truly recall them. One was a Jamaican ape.

I never had an imaginary friend, I always wanted one but I never had the concentration to follow through. :P

But yes, Toy Story corrupted me and I believed my toys would come alive when I left the room. I wish they actually did that, it'd be much more interesting...

I did cant really remember if I had two or not one was like some weird combonation of the characters I liked but looked mainly like venom from SpiderMan. Also another that was a farmer looking cartoon guy with allver alls and was short with a big nose and glasses he was yellow sorta. Well I dont really remember doing much with them though Maybe I should have who knows but know if I had one would I become insane from constently interacting with it?

I used to have a few imaginery friends... I had George the snake, who consisted of a dressing gown cord... and Tom and Sharon, I used my hands to pretend they were ducks. Nowadays I have my characters, and think of their stories at night, in the dark, where I'm not distracted by light.

I tried to have an imaginary friend once but the conversations were quite boring - I always knew what he was about to say.

Nowadays I don't have an imaginary friend but I do hold mental versions of my real friends Kale and Cheese with me at all times, commenting sarcastically on whatever I'm doing. It can be frightful.

Actually, I thought that even before Toy Story. In a way, I believed that they were talking to me telekinetically. Don't ask me why .

And I did that apologizing bit too. I'd freak out when someone threw one of them or stepped on them, because I thought it'd hurt them . It's a wonder I'm not psychotic, isn't it?

Yay, post 1989 .

I wonder who these "cool kids" are. I get the mental image of a bunch of 12 year olds with tommy guns and sunglasses.

There was a Jamaican orangutan, a horny triceratops in a Napoleonic outfit, and a shitload of geckos.

Well, I never had a set imaginary friend. I just used to daydream about living in whatever other world I wanted to live in... I still do by the way, only what happens in those dreams is not so childish mind you.

That made me laugh, because I really didn't expect it. I can just picture that now! 12 year olds with tommy guns! Really unrealistic, though I watched a movie where young children were gangsters and mobsters and were handling pie tommy guns.

My sister had one called Emma, which even back then struck me as slightly creepy. I was far too switched on for such high-jinks... so I was just lonely.

And I thought I was crazy for still keeping my plushies! They're safe in my room and I usually hide them when any of my mom's friends come with their 3 year old kid. As for imaginary friends, I have a dog & bunny (imagine that) duo to watch out for me.

When I was a kid, I didn't have an imaginary friend that would follow me around the place like most. I had made characters that were animated inside stuff animals. In my mind, they were always alive, no matter if I was with them or not. Each one had a personality, a job, a family, and a backstory. And they all lived in the same town and interacted with my sister's stuff animals. They still do so today, in my mind at least.

Strange thing is, they never spoke to me. They spoke to each other, acting like they truely were alive. Another concept is that they believed humans were mythical creatures that roamed in an invisible place in which they cannot see. So they were merely a town invented by myself to take myself away from a rather uninteresting world.

This is probably a little similar to what you guys are talking about. I thought I was the only one who did that!

I too had the stuffed animal complex. I treated my toys when I was younger and even later on as people and showed extreme care for them meaning I didn't want them being tossed around or broken etc.
