Question Oddworld Fangus?!?!

does anyone know if Oddworld Inhabitants are making Oddworld:Fangus?!?!
i heard they were going to start to create it but they are focusing on the movie Citizen Siege. (sorry, i'm new so idk if somebody already posted a thread like this)

There is no such thing as Oddworld: Fangus. The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot had a different setting. OWI started making it with the Stranger game engine, but their publishing deal with Majesco didn’t work out, and they took to films. If you use the search feature on the Oddworld Forums, you’ll find more information.

oh ok yeah i was trying to find some more info and all i found was a magazine article explaining it. I'll be sure to check out the search feature.

When I look at the concept art for that game, the characters where like humans, and I don't like that at all!!!

It's just too dark for an Oddworld game...





It's kinda Stranger-like, but than a Hulk-version of him...

More is on this site, and these Un-Oddworld-Style drawings are mixed with oddworld-Drawings... Don't know if it's real: The Ballad of Fangus Kloth

That is because Fangus does not take place on Oddworld. The only similarity between Oddworld and The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot is that they are made from the same company. Now, you can like it.

AO was about as dark as Fangus would have been.

But Oddworld games are special, they're ntot eh same... While Oddworld has living ammo and Elum's, Fangus would have Machine Guns and Tanks (I know Sligs do, but I'm talking about the main character in every game)... I don't know, it feels different...

Yep, but the thing is, the main issues handled in both games are about the same, someone trying to survive only because he was born on the wrong side. It also deals with crazy capitalism and you could say the "Cats" are the same as the Land Muggers.

I guess they wanted to do something purely brutal, like God of War or the movie 300, truth is, I loved that game and the movie

Actually, I think The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot was suppose to be a little like SW (or Stranger's Wrath). I remember reading that the game would have a living ammo option in the game and would also have first person then thrid person. I wouldn't mind playing the game.

Well, I do hope there aren't humans, but other then that, The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot looks intense. At first I thought I wouldn't like Stranger, since the original characters weren't in it, but turns out Stranger was GREAT! Although there's a 30% chance an Oddworld game will be made.

It was supposed to use the Stranher engine so they would have the 1st / 3rd views, but they stated nowhere they would keep the Live Ammo, I don't like it would fit.

I was very impressed by everything Fangus was aiming for, once I knew it wasn’t Oddworld and I could completely forgive the more ‘Earthly’ designs. It was dark, very dark, which what I love Oddworld to be. It was politically intense. It was, like Xavier says, a game for ‘hardcore’ gamers. The last third‐or‐so of Stranger’s Wrath was meant to really appeal to the hardcore FPS fans, but of course they got bored before the end of all the bounty hunting.

Also, I remember Lorne telling me and Xavier that he never sanctioned those weapon designs, and they were just pieces of work done by Silvio knowing they wouldn’t appear in the finished game.

Me too. It looked like an interesting game. It's a shame that it didn't go into production. I think it probably would have done well.

It did go into production. It was suppose to have been released sometime last year.

Well, if there was not going to be live ammo, or those guns, I am curious of what kind of weapons Fangus would use. Of course, Xavier and Max are never going to tell me...

Fangus did look like fun! Was it really a prank like I heard before? It seems Kind of like Stranger but darker, which seems like a cool style and even more violent!! It could have the style of AO and the fun gameplay of SW. The demonic goats are awesome! The birds creatures a saw briefly in the concept art are also very interesting. The only thing I would change are the cat and dog people, which seems to repeat other things. The only thing I do not like about OWI now is that there character designs have become too dependant on real animals. They just change the proportions and mix and match parts. The concept art of Steven Olds was amazing, Farzad's designs are good too, but Silvio's concept sketches are horrible compared to the other two in terms of originality.

We talked about lots of stuff and we reported everyting that could interest the public, we didn't go in depth about the ammo, we didn't feel it might be intresting.
