Ghosts

This is just a chance to discuss ghosts and weird experiences that you've had. Or if you believe in ghosts or not.

All of my family on my Mum's side believe in ghosts. I do, my Mum does, my brother does etc. I also saw a photo of my Uncle (Died of Leukimia (Sp) when I was a young child (1 year old or so)) with the outline of a transparent woman behind him. My Gran reckons that this is her mother coming to guide my Uncle up to Heaven.

I also had a bit of a weird experience a few weeks ago. I thought about my Grandad (Died of old age when I was 9) and just to see if he was really there, I asked him to give me a sign. And when I was in bed that night, I felt something brush against my hair. I just felt like it was Grandad. It might not have been, but I am hoping.

So does anyone here believe in ghosts...or am I the only one?

I searched for a topic on ghosts but couldn't find one. Lock this topic if there is one like this though.

I do believe in ghosts, although I've never had an encounter. My girlfriend and my younger brother have both had countless experiences involving them, however.

I don't know if I believe in them or not... My mum is constantly watching Most Haunted, and that's a fake load of crap.
I do believe there are some people roaming around after death, but I'm not quite sure. I haven't had a ghost experience, and I don't really fancy having one! Great thread by the way Ray!

Aw, why don't you want to see a ghost? I myself would absolutely love to encounter one, as I enjoy being scared, but not too many things cause me actual fear anymore.

I think having experiences does rather depend on whether you believe in them or not. If you do, then you are more likely to think of ghosts rather than more mundane explanations when you have an experience (or not). Then people will say that they don't believe in them, then others will argue that if they had experienced them then they would believe as well, when it may well be that they have experienced the very same thing, but did not draw the ghost conclusion.

Precisely. I do not believe in ghosts at all, I find the concept illogical and whatever can't be explained, I don't believe in. Most of the ghost stories you hear from friends that heard from friends that heard from friends are complete bogus, and the so-called “haunted houses” they seem to have went to during their girl/boy scout times are actually precise technological instruments.

I also think that whoever believes in ghosts is more likely to “see” them, and that most of the “sightings” are either light tricks/whatever or hallucinations. We get paranoid when we’re in a place where we believe death has been, and only because we really don’t know what death is, except that your body shuts down and so forth.

I thought I saw a ghost once when I was 7…turned out to be my neighbour’s porch light…

I do believe in ghosts, I do think I've seen some too. Yah, you see, someone at my aunt's house died while sleeping, and well, uh, everytime I go into her bedroom hell begins. I've seen the curtains blowing when the windows are closed. I've ACTUALLY seen a Grim Reaper like dude walking slowly into the closet...a lot of people see things like that when someone dies. But no one did...it creeped me out. I've also seen something thrown (idk what, it wasn't clear) across the room and I didn't see anything else. I've also seen some weird things around my house (someone also died here), maybe I just have an active imagination.

I do not believe in ghosts, but I believe in being 'refreshed'. I do not believe in re-incarnation though. Humans carry energy with them, am I not right? And energy can't just diappear. So that extra excess energy must find somewhere to go. A lot of the time, it just happens to make it's way into someone's neurons (nerve cells). Traces of the 'original person's' memory is left in you. I can remember being held in an air raid shelter in 1945, but I was born in 1970. I can also remember watching the original airing of the very first Doctor Who episode from 1963, but I was born in 1970. So, I don't believe in ghosts, but people's memories can be passed on due to exchange of energy.

We don't live in a cartoon world, Moxco...
I remember one time me and my cousins did this weird seyone (sp?) thing in their house. We tried to contact a ghost and all that, and apparently they both saw a couple of ghosts. But the stupid thing about it was, we tried to make Freddy Krueger come and get us, the Candyman, and the Grey Lady.
Stupid!

I would say that it goes into the next trophic level. The decomposers and detritivores. They use it they same way we do.

I keep an open mind. Keeping abreast of ghostology is as interesting a social social science as it is a pure science. I’ve never had a supernatural experience myself (apart from those aliens), but I do have a ghost‐related anecdote about something that happened to me a few nights ago.

I was enjoying an all‐nighter (I believe I stayed up until 9 a.m.), when at some early hour (3 or maybe 4 a.m.), I left my room to make myself a cup of tea in the shared kitchen. I was all ajitter having procrastinated on Facebook and discovered the story of the ghost that haunts the hall of residence I happen to live in. Now this was several weeks after the supposed single night a year the ghost is supposed to hear, and in a completely different building, but despite my rational beliefs, I get very jumpy at times. Once my tea was made, and tiptoed back to my room, and found a very white figure stumbling towards me through the darkness. Instinctively I ducked to the edge of the corridor so he wouldn’t collide with me, but he lurched towards me, only noticing me and stumbling in the other direction just a few inches in front of me. I didn’t turn to watch it move away, I just headed for my room and locked the door.

I guess the freaky, pale‐skinned, scantily‐clad guy was some combination of tired, drunk, and high. Quite why he had to come and use our toilets I don’t know. Anyway, I manage to see him during every meal time now, out of a population of 800.

I keep an open mind too. I have never had any encounters as far as I can recall, but I'm not ruling out something which could very well be true.
Could be real, could be people suggestive thinking. Not gonna make a call on it because I don't know.

Ghosts eh? I believe we have one around the forums here. He has a wolf for an avatar...

Sorry. Felt I had to...

Anyways, I have never really encountered any, but I think there may be that kind of thing out there.
And yes that'd be cool to meet one, if they didn't try to kill you like what it seems like in all the movies and such.

I JUST had a freaky experience. First of all, I hope everyone knows that when someone dies or is going to die, you're always going to see a black shadowy figure of a man that's very tall. Well, I was at my freaky aunt's, and we went to Staples to get some DVD blank discs (for reasons, don't ask), and when my aunt opened the door to her apartment, there stood the shadow dude. He vanished after 10 seconds, which is exactly a long time. I would've take a pic, but I didn't have a camera and the shadow wouldn't have been visible.

I think Mojo is a ghost, every night I wake up in a cold sweat, with his eyes staring at me.........maybe I shouldn't be on the forums late at night.

I do believe in ghosts, I've had many encounters. From things been thrown off a wall and landing 20 feet away, to weird moans, and I've even felt like I've been possessed, ghosts like to pick on me! >_<
