Found this in a sciencey magazine. It's a Star-Nosed Mole.
Of course I don't think this creature inspired the design of paramites or sligs but it's interesting that there are real creatures that have a strong resemblance to things that seem so alien.

The world’s fastest‐eating mammal, huh? That’s a pretty impressive title, and would make much better reading on their grave stones than ‘sort of reminded people of Sligs and Paramites’. Interesting, nonetheless.

What an incredible find. Isn't it amazing how we still have creatures roaming around the Earth that we don't even know are in existence? Nature never ceases to fascinate me.
Oh my god I love you for finding this. I'm SUCH a nerd when it comes to new species, animal knowledge... all that jazz, and I've NEVER seen one of these moles before. Amazingly creepy! Love it!
Ah yes. Perhaps my favourite of the moles. Their noses are so damn sensitive, I believe if you flick it the pain alone will kill it. So don't flick their noses, ya hear?
You want weird though, try checking out the echinoderms in detail. Or the invertebrate Chordates. Weird.
Oh may the Gods smite me now and have demons charr my lonely and forgotten soul until I can spell it right! Please forgive me! I did not know of the sin I have previously commited!

Teh, I saw it in an animal encyclopedia a few weeks back. And the wierd
part is, I thought about Oddworld just like everyone else. But nice find, Nate.
