You mods just don't want to lose some of your power over the forums.
Another useful thing would be if people could delete their posts in threads.
It probably used to be like that, and maybe when Alcar become Administrator
here, he changed things around a little...

I only became an Administrator around a year ago - prior to that I was a Super Moderator. It was only after I promoted SeaRex and changed the staff positions and roles around that I jumped up a smidgin.
As for deleting posts, members have never been allowed to delete posts,
ever. Not under Sydney's rule, Abe Babe's rule, or mine. Even now, Moderators are unable to permanently remove posts - deleted posts are still stored in the database, and are easy to retrieve / view. The main reason behind this is because by deleting a post you are removing the OWF's history, and muddling up what once was a coherent thread.
Which is similar to why I hesitate to allow thread title editing, and this is backed up by what Max the Mug had to say a few posts up.
